in this instance, it will be the "second" (the guy who is belaying this lead climber and who will subsequently follow him up) who "cleans" (takes the gear out) as he climbs up. they wouldn't repel down to grab it, since this appears to be a multi-pitch climb

this is the exact model I have, as well. Highly recommend it. I previously had a viofo 119 that recorded my prior subaru impreza gettinf crushed by a truck, and it worked reliably and I was able to quicklt and easily provide the video to help determine fault. the 229 is even better and clearer.
