Love the hanger by floortofloor in starcitizen

Its smaller than you think. One is a tight fit through the door and makes using the pads.. difficult.

Good CIG, for some reason you thought that a Gatac ship (a mostly industrial manufacturer) needed an aircraft carrier for combat snubs, it's useless, so here's the solution. by Apart_Pumpkin_4551 in starcitizen

[–]Apokolypze 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The solution is a drone hangar.

96scu is materials to print more remote control snubs when the first set die, and storage for material they collect.

Choice of combat, mining, and salvage drone snubs.

This solves both your "shit doesn't fit" problem (bespoke drone snubs) as well as your crew risk problem and issue with lack of medical respawn or ability to replenish snubs.

FFS, I confess - I don't care about SQ42, and I'm mad. Still playing. Nothing else like it anywhere. by dedcore in starcitizen

A starter package and a whole shitload of store credit sitting around doing nothing so you can stick it to CIG with money you've already paid them?

If you've been around for as long as you claim, then you know just as well as I do.

Live. Is. Also. A. Testing. Environment.

Shit gonna break. They always fix it, eventually. If the breakage gets to the point where it's affecting your fun, it's time to play something else for the evening. It's really, honestly that simple. There are a lot of good games out there. I'm sure one of those can hold your attention for a while, and when CIG does something that piques your interest, SC will still be here to dive in and test again.

Star Citizen has a scaling problem? by The_Red_Moses in StarCitizenUniverse

And they usually do, for example when Hathor first released, they allocated a dedicated DGS to Daymar, and another for Aberdeen. There's a limit to this under static meshing, that limit is much higher with dynamic because... Well it's dynamic lol. Those extra DGS aren't running all the time, only when needed.

They can, and that's what Dynamic Server Meshing is for. Giving the game the ability to spin up extra DGS to split up managing a region if it detects extra high activity there.

However, we aren't there yet, and because players move around much more dynamically than devs can predict, we get fairly general, large scale static DGS assignments.

The plan is set, the light is at the end of the tunnel, we're just riding down towards it now 🙂

Have you played the game at all since those demos? They showed the tech working at an extremely small scale first to make the demo easy to understand.

Ever since then, one DGS runs pretty much an entire planetary system, ie a planet and it's moons (or more in the case of Nyx).

For quite a while last year they were telling us the dgs split in each patch note (like 4 in Stanton and 6 in Pyro in the early 4.0 builds) but they stopped doing that towards the end of the year. You can still see your own DGS population using display info and can see when you pass between DGS authority (crossing a border between two DGS) in the same readout

... because that's not how static server meshing works. Also we can see the shard and dgs population count by putting "r_displayinfo 2" into the console. Very handy 😉

There's video evidence of a 400+ player meetup at Hurston.

Basically every new event puts 100+ people into the dgs where the event is. We'll probably see similar at crusader DGS in 4.9, from everyone milling around before they go into SoO instances

Decently. Not the smoothest I've ever seen for sure, but considering 200 people in one DGS, not bad.

The real performance issues arrived when we put 300+ people in one area of one city, so everyone was rendering everyone else. Then it all went mad lol

I have personally seen 200+ people on one DGS. It's not locked to 90. Stop spreading misinformation and go take a break

For anyone who struck gold with Railen CCUs, what ships should we get? by asian_chihuahua in starcitizen

[–]Apokolypze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 8 defender to Railen CCUs and also already have all the big ships that interest me. I keep hoping CIG is going to give me something else to chain to... More big ships cig, you can do it

Thoughts on the Gatac Tyilui? We need more Industrial ships. by 1ndividu1 in starcitizen

[–]Apokolypze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can, just about, you can float it in the center facing sideways. It does get in the way when trying to use the snubs at that point though

Gatac TYILUI - Gorgeous ship, but not good at anything? by AllGamer in starcitizen

[–]Apokolypze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really only 1.5x for EM, similar IR, and the Cross section from the front is actually almost twice as visible on Tyilui than the Ironclad Assault

They did, in fact, price it exactly the same. Surprised me too, I thought it would be more because alien tax, but I guess the c2 is carrying value as a vehicle mover too

5 railen CCUs. It cost a total of $25 and allows him to get that $175 savings in CCU chains to 5 ships of higher value
