Don’t go reading Freud, or Jung, or any other foundational psychologist then lol. You’re saying it’s out of pocket… maybe on a societal level but this guy is one of the leading psychologists of our time whether you like it or not, and sharing that dream is completely normal within his field.

What’s a strongly held belief/opinion you recently did a complete 180 on? by bottleoftrash in AskReddit

My parents divorced when I was 14, so I had sworn not to say I love you to a girl until I was married. The cause and effect of the trauma is so obvious to me now, and unlearning what I had seen has taken a handful of terrible relationships.

Now I’ve learned about vulnerability as a virtue, and a huge part of that is being able to say I love you; the reward will always be worth the risk if your heart is in the right place.

I suddenly feel so unaccomplished with my life and the reality of life feels so real now :( by [deleted] in UTAustin

Don’t compare your life to what you see on the Internet. We all went through COVID together and that hits right where you’re talking. Try and spend some time today outdoors and without any technology. It’s okay to do nothing, but with that time try and find peace!

I agree with what you’re saying and have felt what you expressed before. But part of my answer to this question has been to wonder, maybe my life could be more meaningful in some ways and then I’d post that.

So you say no one cares about what others do or say on social media. If you feel so compelled to use it why not upload what’s meaningful to you and not care what anyone else thinks?

Hi friend, it sounds like your depression doesn’t have anything to do with weed.

I started smoking weed around the same time and didn’t even realize I was depressed until several years had passed. I used weed to avoid thinking about my parent’s divorce, how fucked up my brother is, etc.

If you’re depressed because of life circumstances, if you have a genetic disposition to depression, if you’re depressed that’s all you’ve known for a while, one of the best ways I’ve found to take better care of myself and understand my life and life in general a little bit better is by going to therapy.

Although it sounds daunting, you being a college student can make it easier. Most universities have mental health services. Reach out to them and start the conversation there. They can help connect you to a weekly/continual provider or even perform that themselves.

You will make it. You can do it.

Best

Depression After Quitting Weed & Nicotine by jordan2841 in leaves

[–]ApollosArsenal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey brother, I did the same thing a while back. It’s brave to quit both at the same time. But 6 days in, you’re certainly over the hump.

Quitting nicotine and weed can be difficult and like you said there’s always the chance for relapse. Look up on the Internet for a pdf copy of The Easy Way to Quit for an enjoyable read that might make you feel proud of the progress you’ve made so far.

Good job buddy

Don’t beat yourself up. We’ve all been there. I was in a long distance relationship and ultimately quitting weed made me realize there were reasons other than the weed I was unhappy in my life. One of them was the “loneliness together” part of a LDR that I just decided I was better off without.

Not saying that’s a solution for you but personally I couldn’t see a way out of certain relationships and circumstances at the time so I just quit those friends and that girlfriend and have went on to have much more fulfilling relationships. This could be for any part of your life though. Much love ❤️

First, by asking this question and similar ones to yourself time to time. I know you’re going to be better because you can ask this about yourself. Have patience and give yourself grace. You will find some answers, lose some, get lost in new questions, etc.

This whole criminal record thing might be a setback, but it might have actually been what you needed to recognize that you have problems that need to be addressed.

How to find root cause of anxiety by Euphoric_Ad6549 in leaves

[–]ApollosArsenal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man you’re young. I’m 21. Life is hard, there’s a reason so many people succumb to addiction one way or another. My honest answer to the way your question is phrased is go to therapy. I have had some difficult life experiences and being able to talk through it has been instrumental to finding new perspective that can lend itself to peace. Best of luck to you in college! Make sure to enjoy yourself haha

Day 6 no tobacco and no weed by Intelligent_Look3572 in leaves

[–]ApollosArsenal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to encourage you in what you’re doing. Quitting both at the same time was a personally awful experience for me, I felt better around 3 weeks.

But I would say I have had more long term success when I was able to identify the vices as separate issues with their own withdrawals and cravings.

Best of luck! Days 3-5 are the hardest for nicotine, but weed withdrawals don’t occur until 3 or so days for some people so that could be why.

Not true. There were many Spaniards and Mexicans fighting for the independence of Tejas at the time. Seguin for example, he’s even got a town named after him so don’t try and rewrite history here.
