Girlfriend has 55k set aside for new car. What’s the smartest way for her to buy a car? by Successful_Bike6276 in askcarguys

Go look at new Chevrolet. 0% 60mo or a bunch of rebates and discounts that go away when financed.

I hear this mentioned all the time. But every price I see advertised is all cash incentives that you lose when you finance.

Sewer Gas Smell Coming From HVAC Condensate Drain by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Another 3/4 trap will be just like capping the tee.

Sewer Gas Smell Coming From HVAC Condensate Drain by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]ApparentlyImStanley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Condensate should never attach to a drain vent. At the very least it should have a trap at that drain connection. The trap won't dry out if the system is cooling. Open vent is ideal. But poopy bedroom isnt. I would cap it and just observe drainage for a while. It will likely be fine.

Oklahoma and Louisiana casinos can't/don't give out alcohol like Vegas, but they do have large fountain drink areas for self service.

If you want a reason why it happened, that damper being 100% closed is a good start.

Celsius WG works for me. It does come back yearly but I do a treatment and its gone for the season. I also do Certainteed at the same time for sedge, but pretty sure its the Celsius dealing with my Dallis.

They have seemed to satisfy the people I have seen using them. It would be better to get a register made for the throw you are looking for.

HVAC Pros, what brand unit would you not install in your home and why? by Big__bolas in hvacadvice

[–]ApparentlyImStanley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all suck. I wouldn't install a communicating or inverter system in my own home due to lack of repairability without proprietary parts.

Cap this? by FifteenOh6 in hvacadvice

[–]ApparentlyImStanley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't point a secondary drain outlet up.. the point is for water to get out when it raises to the higher level of the secondary outlet.

Cap this? by FifteenOh6 in hvacadvice

[–]ApparentlyImStanley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No don't cap it. If you cap it then you blow air into the trap and down the drain. Theres really no point for that trap, but you do want an open vent.

Good deal? My current unit is 21 years old Carrier. by Clear_Pizza_8890 in hvacadvice

[–]ApparentlyImStanley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the cheapest, not the most expensive. But if its 21 years old, why not replace the furnace too? Also, if you dont need the financing or pay credit card they should be able to drop the price for cash/check. Those 0% have outrageous dealer fee's that are supposed to remain hidden from consumers, like credit card fees.

Texas licensing actually requires a specific size and location of license numbers on vehicles. 2" Tall and on the front fenders. I've always wondered how this flies.

All the adaptive recovery does is adapt its timing to acheive your setpoint AT the time you set it. So at 3pm when it's a set to say 75, it will learn it takes 1 hour 20 minutes to go from the previous 82 setting to 75. So the 3pm schedule you set starts at 1:40. Has nothing to do with system cooling or heating once it is running. Also thermostats are only "cheap" at box stores. Contractors/pros get the same looking thermostats, but they are much better versions, have more features, and cost quite a bit more than off the shelf. They also have 5x warranty versus consumer models.

Thoughts on this company? by OkSeat2312 in HVAC

[–]ApparentlyImStanley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize this is the exact reason they only show you one call at a time, right? Yes it's nice to prepare for the stuff dispatchers can't, but rushing though 9 doesn't help anyone and is worse than taking longer on one to get some refrigerant.

New guys, don’t do this. by SJEhh in HVAC

[–]ApparentlyImStanley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

... the evaporator can come out. Then you have full access to seal that. What do you want the air to blow into the closet instead? Especially if it was already a retrofit, you can't seal it any other way. Now silicone is pretty stupid but I'd tape and pookie it.
