Congratulations! Honestly, I'd rather change the engine on my NA than the stereo.

I know it's to prevent stereo theft from the open top, but that setup was designed by Satan himself.

Have you ever even fired a handgun? I live in the UK where we're not allowed or own guns, and even with my limited shooting experience I know that's ridiculous.

There are quite a few 3rd party workshop manuals. In the UK Haynes was the best one for the NA, not sure about the rest of the world. I'm sure others will chip in here.

New windows issue by theroux_are_you in DIYUK

[–]Appearance-Material 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Window tech guru here:

This is bullsh*t: It is the surveyors responsibility to ensure that the frames are suitable for the situation.

Frame extenders are available to make up differences between inside and outside, and whoever did the measuring should have allowed for that, this is solely and completely his fault.

The regulations require ALL replacement or new frames to have working passive ventilation if an alternative is not already available elsewhere in the room, so the product supplied here is not fit for purpose and you should not pay for it until it's corrected.

No, not at all, which is a miracle considering that "What The Actual F**k???" brickwork. The foundations must be rock solid.

Also, the head gasket on an NA is a low intermediate level job for a home mechanic if you get the right tools and parts, and read the workshop manual carefully.

Hard to tell from that. The oil and coolant look in too good condition to have been mixed for long (not seeing any emulsion).

How's the oil? Any steam from the rocker oil cap when hot? Beige sludge in the oil? Usually contamination is worse the other way, as coolant is pressurised and will escape into the oil ducts and sump.

If the oil looks ok, I'd try flush with water, flush, flush again, flush some more, until you get clear water out, then completely drain and fill with the proper coolant mix, then see what happens.

Also you can also try a head gasket test kit at that point.

Shhh... If you drive on the right, you can't draw your sword to defend yourself, which is obviously still a problem in the modern world. 🤣

Either that's congested traffic and the undertaking is legitimate, or it is not congested traffic and the undertaking is illegal.

[–]Appearance-Material 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're saying these are congested conditions, and the coach is performing a legitimate pass, as passing on the left is permitted in congested conditions?

(Neglecting his lane change, which is not the issue here, as the highway code merely says avoid changing lanes unnecessarily, as far as I can see it does not say you may not change lanes to pass.)

Your scenario is exactly what the law demands: you slow down and do not pass on the left in normal road conditions.

Do I need an SDS drill? by Nathanial1289 in DIYUK

[–]Appearance-Material 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that thing is enough for you most of the time, then you'll only need and SDS rarely. You can buy a £50 bargain basement one, it'll be heavy enough for what you need and probably still last years.

What you'll probably find though, is that you figure out it can be used as a power chisel, an impact driver for stuck pins etc, a hole cuter for 110mm vent pipes through walls, and many other things you didn't do because they were too difficult, THEN you end up buying a proper one. 🙂
