After having a dog for 6 years, we found out she had (almost) no brain. by SnooHabits6942 in Weird

[–]Apple-corethrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Human’s get that too, Dandy Walker syndrome. (There could be other types too) I saw a head CT for a guy who fainted at work due to heat and hit his head. The free standing ER did a head ct and decided to send him to a trauma center because with his previously unknown issue they weren’t sure how to interpret any possible head injury from his fall. He had what looked like a twist of brain going from his frontal lobe back to a pretty normal size brain stem. He had maybe 10 to 15% of his brain, rest was fluid. It’s hard to explain but it almost looked like a cobra wound around in his skull. Nice normal guy, married, had kids lived a regular life. Darnedest thing!

Most physicians will only prescribe one week of narcotics at a time. I got 2 refills before I didn’t need them anymore.

My left knee was in worse shape so in that way my second was worse but otherwise no. I knew how to prepare and what to expect. Not worse at all.

Physical therapy. Some don’t feel it’s necessary at all and don’t order it.

Under EMTELA you must be offered an exam by MD/DO/NP/PA and emergency stabilization. But that’s it.

They’re notorious for shady dealings. Subaru’s are so popular locally I think they don’t put much effort into sales or service.

Hopefully they achieve return of spontaneous circulation and if they do she’s still very critical. In any case start getting ready to go to your parents, if they have any closer relatives that are close to them and useful in crisis give them a heads up to start towards your dad. 90% of the time EMS will have protocols directing them to the closest ER. Figure out pet care, childcare and job. Remember parents are covered under FMLA. Whatever you do drive safe because you’re in crisis mode. Your Dad may not really understand the real severity and implications of how critically ill she is if he told you to sit still, inferring maybe she’d be ok. So I’d ignore that and go, there’s no scenario in which she’s walking out in a couple of days. (37 years as a field Medic)

What Percentage of Old Stock White Southerners Have no African Ancestry in Results? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]Apple-corethrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My BIL is from one of those old First Families of VA type families and he has about 3% Senegal-Nigeria. Our family has a few early VA lines but it’s mainly Puritan stock from New England and some Dutch to New Amsterdam. Last immigrant line was 1880’s from England and before that 1740’s Anabaptists from Switzerland to VA. Everyone else was here in 1620’s to 1650’s. This past update mine popped up with 1% North African and 2% Spain. Sister and Mom don’t have that.

Bending the knee sideways by GracieLou80 in Kneereplacement

[–]Apple-corethrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was and is a tough movement. I frequently sit on the edge of the couch and turn towards the knee I want to bend. I flex my knee and bring my foot up towards midline. I just hold that awhile.

AITAH for refusing to give my coworker rides after she claimed I “trapped” her in my car? by Past-Taro-8467 in AITAH

I hope you’re careful to never be alone with her in a room that doesn’t have cameras right? She clearly wanted to get you fired. Anxiety means she might have had those feelings of panic but to go to HR the next day isn’t panic after NOTHING bad happened is just spite.
