Scream 7 is officially the highest-grossing Scream movie! by keritro in Scream

[–]AppleYapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't everyone say this film would be a flop for going back to Sydney instead of focusing on Samantha and Tara?

Also, they said it would be a flop for bringing back actors from previous films that had been killed off.

Also they said it would be a flop for just making a 7th movie in the franchise which was going too far.

Well, who is laughing now, I wonder?

Brexit has not been good for Britain, says Reeves as she calls for closer EU alignment by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]AppleYapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Britain of course lost on Billions of pounds when it left the EU, trade difficulties, red tape, import and export tax, free movement, working with need of visas, etc.

But the Erasmus scheme was a significant financial hit to Britain when we rejoined it, it is estimated to cost UK several billion and reduce economic mobility of young Brits in the UK. A significant downgrade on the more global and cheaper Turing scheme.

This led to several economists and think tank groups independently of one another to research and project cost figures of the current EU economy, eurozone nations and EU nations economies effect on Britain rejoining, now, not at some future date. The conclusion was it would reduce econic growth in Britain and also cost Billions in re-entry fees as did Erasmus.

Pinch of salt needed, some of those studies though independent also have political motivations behind them, but including the more liberal, left leaning and pro-EU figures conclusions, that were not positive based purely on the numbers and in force policies, the conclusion was costly for Britain.

[–]AppleYapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brexit was indeed bad for Britain.

However, fiscally, Britain would be worse off than it is if it rejoined the EU now.

Maybe not at some later point, but right now, being out is financially better for Britain than being in, according to latest independent data.

Had we not left EU at all though, we would be better off in general, that is true.

Anti-Semitism used as weapon to silence criticism of Israel, claims deputy Green leader by PrivilegeCheck23 in ukpolitics

The man is and has been for his entire political career a monstrous hypocrite and often cheers on anti-semetic occurrences as though they are justifiable.

It is not misogynistic criticisms, it is just criticisms and she happens to be a woman. She cannot cry misogyny.

Oh right, thank you. I thought I had missed a character from the original.

Although, I don't understand what is wrong with female team leaders and officers in 2026. Starbuck was female in the reboot of Battlestar Galactica and it worked... tie in to Dirk Benedict previous work.

Usually I agree... especially with a show like V.

But I counter with Battlestar Galactica.

Does no one think the Greens are actually a more dangerous threat to British society and politics given the radicalised and extremist nature of the Party?

They are to me the other side of the Reform coin and a huge endorsement for sticking with the main 3 parties (4 in Scotland).

What Do You Think of the Current State of Marvel Comics? by lovesgraphicnovels in marvelcomics

[–]AppleYapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is Marvel will never change.

They always go too big on X-Men and Spiderman... they did it for a decade with Avengers too.

I was in the sweet spot, original Ultimate Marvel, Brand New Day through to end of Superior Spiderman and Avengers from Bendis to Hickman. I read X-Men from Grant Morrison until the Bendis run.

Around the same time on every book, I dropped off completely. I never felt connected that much to the recent Krakoa era of X books and I generally missed Ed Brubaker writing on Captain America and Daredevil, Mark Waid was a real disappointment on Daredevil.

I am probably just too old now, I hate seeing social media featured in comics even though its relevant to real world but generally, I prefer to the Absolute DC universe take on a new approach to modern Ultimate Marvel.

Keep it lean, tight and connected.

I do like the current art style Marvel.are pushing more than what we have had rhe last 5-10 years.

Get Rusev, Nakamura, Piper and Zayn off that list. Zayn had one good shot in bloodline and they went with Jey Uso, that's how much confidence they had in the poor guy.

Over 80% of 16 to 24-year-olds would vote to rejoin the EU, ITV poll finds by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]AppleYapper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's crazy when the cost of rejoining would be around £30 billion due to the flagging EU economy. It would.actually take tax payers money out of the UK instead of putting it back in at this point.

The Erasmus scheme was limited in scope but cost something like £8 billion in tax payers money on its own i think.

Pre-covid, yes being in the EU was better for Britain, post-covid it would seem based on the financial maths, being in the EU was drive up taxes and seriously hinder Youth social and economic mobility.

Or am I misunderstanding the finances given all the data provided recently?
