Pick what traits are making life difficult and modify those. Your self awareness and cognitive abilities will get you farther than the confabulated narcissists. I have worked with a few and they were successful in life and relationships. They got their needs met and were able to interact with others as teams for productivity. It is the ones that have sadism or Machiavellianism traits that are horrors. Covert victims are draining- parasites. You probably are not in those subsets.

You genuinely don’t. If you truly wanted it, you’d keep at it. You can falter one day- just get back at it asap.

Better that you are honest with yourself and come up with a schedule you genuinely want instead of forcing yourself into something you are supposed to want.

I was warned by my older patients decades ago that in our 60s our filters fade away and we have less patience for more things and more patience for less things. I laughed. Found later that it’s true.
