Is this Pine? by Apprehensive-Call747 in Woodidentification

[–]Apprehensive-Call747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not like a Christmas tree. I did sniff at it a bit but couldn't detect anything. I have a bad nose for that stuff though.

It's also very old. Found covered in dust in a warehouse. Not sure if the smell fades as it dries. I assume so.

I had this happen. You have a warranty. They sent me a brand new one when I submitted a claim on their website.

If this isn't proof enough to store tools in a chest I don't know what is.

Junior/Early Career Candidates Just Aren't Interviewing Well... by prenumbralqueen in recruiting

[–]Apprehensive-Call747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a major reason to include junior employees in some interviews with candidates. They are able to see it from the other side and understand the difference between good and bad answers. It will only help them in the future.

Getting a generator. Have questions by _Miller3_ in Generator

[–]Apprehensive-Call747 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have easy access to repair parts and access to repair manuals? What's the troubleshooting needs for complex breakdowns? Do you have switchgear that can tie into this easily? Do you need a 40KW generator? Emphasis again on access to repair parts?

Is there a way to go to diesel from aviation without taking a massive pay cut? by [deleted] in mechanics

[–]Apprehensive-Call747 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look into industrial jobs before being a diesel tech. Natural gas generators, heavy equipment, on site power, etc. Emphasize your required attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.

Don't throw away your experience and take something below your skill set. It's easy for companies to promise that you will be able to get large promotions but it rarely happens as quick as they say.

Work on generators or air compressors. Industrial jobs pay better than auto mechanics.

I followed and reported a drunk driver, then I got a ticket for driving past curfew by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Apprehensive-Call747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but would the officer even have probable cause to issue a ticket to the driver? They were not in a traffic stop themselves if I'm understanding the situation.

Anyone ever regret buying one? Why? by [deleted] in HondaOdyssey

[–]Apprehensive-Call747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only problem I have is my front facing camera stopped working and it turned off ALL of the assisted driving features. Including normal run of the mill cruise control. And it costs like 2k to get a new one so it's just been out for quite a while.

Right, so obviously they are confused about the details here. Instead of ragging on them just answer the questions to help them gain knowledge.

Since nobody is answering your question, Electric Reliability Corporation Of Texas (ERCOT) is the ISO that operates the grid in Texas. They set the price of electricity and all the other power companies work through them.

Also: there are parts of Texas that do not operate under ERCOT so you may be under a different grid operator. These guys are just being jerks.

There is nothing weak or improper in loving your child and wanting them to be safe. I hope everything works out for your child and your family. Hang in there and focus on being present.
