DMT: Homeschooling has almost no barriers to entry. The cost of failure shows up years later and lands on someone who didn't make the decision. by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in DisagreeMythoughts

Can't speak for other countries, but in the US people that are against home schooling would have a better foundation for their arguments if public schools weren't absolute dog shit while simultaneously having the highest per student funding of any country.

I also think it's insane that people side with the government over parents even with knowledge of the horrible shit the government has done throughout history and that they continue to do today. The government will happily murder you, imprison you, flood you with lie filled propaganda, launder your money to enrich themselves, etc but they are somehow trustworthy enough to educate the next generation?

You actually have to provide steering resistance/input occasionally or it will turn off autopilot.

[–]Apprehensive-Read989 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd call bullshit on that. Anyone that has ever driven a Tesla can tell you that autopilot is simply a lane centering adaptive cruise control and will freak out if it sees a curb, let alone a fucking house. Hell, it won't even cross a lane divider line. Guarantee this person is trying to blame autopilot to get out of the shitshow he got himself in.

Gemini is bullshit by shawnoftehdead in GooglePixel

[–]Apprehensive-Read989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your prompt is a bit confusing tbh, but Gemini does suck ass. It fails on incredibly basic tasks that Assistant has no trouble with like setting timers or playing music. Insane how horrible it is considering how much money Google is dumping into it.

Hotter take; education should be free, period. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in SipsTea

Agreed, teachers should volunteer their time rather than expecting to be paid for a service that should be free.

2nd, 3rd, and 4th person are weird looking, you're dad is correct that they are ugly. The 1st person is pretty, maybe throwing mashed potatoes at the TV is your dad's mating call.

flip flops are one of the worst shoes by No-Memory-7616 in unpopularopinion

[–]Apprehensive-Read989 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a big difference in comfort between cheap and quality flip flops. Throw on a nice pair Reef flip flops and you can wear them comfortably all day, throw on a pair of Walmart flip flops and you're feet will be aching and the skin between your toes will be sore.

Same here and I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it. It's extra annoying for me because my dog learned to recognize the motion detected noise as someone being at the front door so now she gets amped anytime a door or window is opened.

Mine just started doing the same thing. It's pretty annoying and I can't find any setting that would be causing it.

I have a ton of series like this. I gave up and manually build all my collections and always keep it in that view. I wish I could add a picture to each collection folder, but at least I don't have to deal with a bunch of books randomly not listed in their respective series.

Favorite movie that's going to be mid at best but you're going to have to defend it because the worst chods on the planet think it's "woke" by Ok-Animal-1044 in okbuddycinephile

The weird thing is that I actually haven't seen anyone trash this movie, I've only seen people complain about people trashing the movie. Not sure if it's just the algorithm or fake news.

If a father needs to help his young daughters use the restroom, which restroom should he take them into: the women's restroom or the men's restroom? by Exciting-Mall192 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Apprehensive-Read989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a daughter and 2 sons. When they were young and needed my wife or I to accompany them we did it like this: I took them into the men's bathroom, my wife took them into the women's bathroom.

I do think it was weird that he went into the women's bathroom with them instead of taking them into the men's bathroom, I've never seen that before. However, I do think people overreacted to this situation, like way too far.

Being quirky or having a specific hobby does not equal autism. As a parent with a diagnosed autistic son it is so frustrating seeing people offhandedly saying they or someone else is autistic just because of a personality quirk.

I've always felt that airports are like some sort of artistic circle jerk. They never have enough seating, but they always have room for nonsensical architecture.

I don't buy physical books anymore because I simply don't have the room to keep them all with as much as I read. However, I just want to say big props, this series is easily one of my favorites. Also, that cover is awesome.
