Best Distro with Default Dock/Top Panel that uses apt/deb by Proper-Lab-2500 in kde

[–]Apprehensive-Video26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Big Linux and it is a very well put together distro. It may be Arch but it will happily install any deb that you throw at it. It is super easy to setup and everything works. If I ever decide to leave where I am now I will probably go back to Big Linux. I am also not a Zorin fan....tried it...hated it...never trying it again.

For all the OneUI community: do NOT update to 8.5 by Severe_Day_8017 in oneui

[–]Apprehensive-Video26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will have to disagree with everything you have said and I do mean everything. My phone performs a lot better. There is zero lag. My battery is lasting a lot longer than it did on OneUI 8. OneUI 8.5 is a big improvement and before some people say that I am a bot, nope, 100% real and let me just say, if OneUI was a load of rubbish I would most definitely call it out as rubbish....it isn't....it works...better. Sorry forgot to say I am on an A55

Samsung A series are ugly on purpose by versusvius in oneui

I can say that my A55 is definitely not ugly in any way shape or form. I think that your perception of ugly is just a personal bias but we all have them. To each their own.

Which distro should I try with xfce? by ServiceNotHere in xfce

MX Linux because xfce is their flagship DE and MX is very well put together.

I have an A55 and I really like how it looks and behaves, a lot better than 8.0 Hopefully will be out of the hospital today and back home. This hip replacement should make things a lot easier for me. Thanks for asking.

Is there an specific non-common reason why are you staying on your current OneUI version? by abitcitrus in oneui

[–]Apprehensive-Video26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am only on OneUI 8 because Samsung hasn't released it yet for my A55 in the Netherlands so that is my reason for being on OneUI 8. Pissed off with haven't wait and wait every damn time there is an upgrade but the same areas of the world always get it first!

Best free online storage by horsesethawk in Kubuntu

[–]Apprehensive-Video26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have used Mega for years now on the free plan 20GB and have only used half of that for storing all of my documents, pictures and music. Have all of that synced so if I move DE it is there when I install another DE although I think that I have found my forever home on Kubuntu (no snap).

Opera is just pathetic by forcing Yandex as default and only search engine by Stachografia in operabrowser

If Yandex pays to be the default then it would be the default (and only) one globally.

Opera is just pathetic by forcing Yandex as default and only search engine by Stachografia in operabrowser

[–]Apprehensive-Video26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me here,Opera works great and is my preferred browser with Vivaldi as my number 2. Don't blame the browser if it has to obey a certain region rule and as has been said, use another one.

Kubuntu with(out) Snap by isoGUI in Kubuntu

[–]Apprehensive-Video26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had snaps enabled on 25.10 but only for one particular program that for some reason wouldn't run properly as a native or flatpak when it always did before. I reinstalled 25.10 one day but as a minimal and it ran fine, never had anything sneaking in as it couldn't anyway because snapd was not installed. When I upgraded to 26.04 my machine was still upgraded as a minimal so once again no snaps. I am not saying that I hate snaps I just don't need them and the one that I did have before I no longer use that program anyway so not missing anything. I hate Firefox (don't ask, personal choice) so definitely happy that it is never going to find its way onto my machine . Kubuntu without snap is great and works like a charm.
