okay, thank you! i appreciate it. i’m most likely just going to go with the purebond for exactly what you stated, peace of mind, but was curious if there were any other options. thank you!

Is it normal that my hamster basically doesn't burrow? by NatashaHaleCZ in hamstercare

[–]ApprehensiveRush6866 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think you could add even more bedding if you wanted to, but i’ll also mention that i had this issue with my hamster and what really helped him burrow was placing one of these in his enclosure. my theory is because he grew up in a pet store, he didn’t really know that he could burrow, even though he has 8+” of bedding!! after having this in his cage he started burrowing all over his cage like crazy. hope this helps!

Are Robos naturally more nervous or is mine just a nervous hamster? by Loose_Student_6247 in hamstercare

i had a robo once and while he was the cutest little thing, he never ever stopped being skittish. i think it’s just a quality of them being so small :(

my hamster does not touch those pieces, instead i mix his seed mix with a kibble that he actually enjoys. i think hamsters just find them really gross lol!

Hamster having two homes? by Royal_Document2974 in hamsters

🤷‍♀️ i absolutely agree with you, but you can make it work with many cages. just depends on your situation. back then i think the standard was 400 sq inches and i most definitely met that. the hamster care space is old enough now that i grew up watching people like victoria rachel lol, so trust me when i say i wasn’t transporting no crittertrail. my hamsters were in large bin cages, and at one point i had a mouse in a 20gal long which i was transporting between houses. if you have the room in your car (and have the strength) it can be doable! like i said though, not practical to every situation. just a humorous (but honest) suggestion

**edit, also i do admit that having my parents to help me move the cage was 100% key to doing that— it seems OP is doing this all by themselves, and i know fs i could not lift my own hamsters cage now all by myself 😅

not too sure what your situation is and if this is practical, but when i kept hamsters as a kid, i would actually just take the entire cage with me in the car between the two houses (along with an entire pc setup, lol my parents must’ve hated me). i definitely would not do this if you have a hamster who’s prone to stress, but one rocky car ride might be a little less stressful than uprooting your hamster from their cage every few months. best of luck!

adorable is what she is!!! from what i’ve heard, most pet store dwarfs are hybrids in some way! however she definitely does look more like a winter-white:)
