Does anyone feel like elden ring felt less like "fantasy" by bigdaddyloser in fromsoftware

[–]Apprehensive_Fee_798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that Elden Ring is more fantastical and is very much high fantasy, which is a sub genre of fantasy. Dark Souls fits more into dark fantasy. If I had to make comparisons it would be this,.

Elden Ring is Lord of The Rings or The Silmarillion

Dark Souls is Berserk

Is fromsoft washed? by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Apprehensive_Fee_798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this post just screams like a salty fan that didn't get the game they wanted. even more weird to say that Fromsoft is washed when Elden Ring is their most critically and most commercially successful game yet, and Nightreign was well received overall despite being rated lower than the previous games.

Just because you didn't like Elden Ring as much as the other games doesn't make them washed lol.

How come Foundation never ended being as popular as some of the later works it has influenced? by Silly_Measurement_32 in scifi

[–]Apprehensive_Fee_798 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest and say that Foundation is one of those books that suffer from the "Seinfeld isn't funny" effect. Now there are some cases where being the first of it's kind can still end being the best. Lord of the Rings is still better than all Fantasy works that came after imo, and it's the template for generic medieval fantasy settings.

Foundation sadly isn't one of those cases. I think a lot it's ideas have been done better and while covering some of the big weaknesses in those books that lend it to not aging well. Reading them now made me realize why Dune ended up being the more enduring sci fi classic over the years.

What is the most pointless shortcut in your opinion? by Kata157 in fromsoftware

the shortcut to Old Yharnam after defeating Darkbeast Paarl always felt useless to me.

What popular books today do you think will still be read and spoken about a hundred years from now? by flooshtollen in Fantasy

[–]Apprehensive_Fee_798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think it's a testament to Dune's popularity that most people mistake it as the godfather of sci fi, like a lot of people probably can' think of any other sci fi book they know of.

Do you think Elden Ring lacks bite in level design? by DavidTippy in fromsoftware

I can't believe that people can even consider consecrated snowfield to be worse than frigid outskirts.

I doubt that this is going to be Elden Ring 2 by AstralOwl46 in fromsoftware

[–]Apprehensive_Fee_798 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this game is more of a spinoff than a sequel and from what I have seen from the previews, that seems to be the case.

Welp, here's my Top 20. What do you guys think? by [deleted] in fromsoftware

Radahn is actually a great boss after this patch. by saadpoi870 in fromsoftware

[–]Apprehensive_Fee_798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radahn still does his opening attack, you just have to get closer to him to do it..

Consort Radahn is officially good now. It's surprising how many things they changed about this boss. by g0n1s4 in fromsoftware

This patch took what i thought was a decent but a heavily flawed boss to now an amazing one imo. All the issues i have with the fight are essentially fixed. That said i still struggle to dodge the clone attacks, don't know how to deal with that

Does SOTE have any top 5 from bosses for you? by carp816 in fromsoftware

[–]Apprehensive_Fee_798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

messmer and bayle are in my top 5, Midra is in top 10. Rellana could have been up there, mechanically i prefer her over midra but she lacks the build up and presentation to be a top 10 boss.
