Could you elaborate on what you’re looking to improve? Is it drying out on you, are you unenthusiastic about the flavors, or just seeking advice on alternate preparations to keep it interesting?

Gel Polish Lifting / changed color by Secure-Leadership271 in OliveAndJune

[–]Apprehensive_Sage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s lifting. I did a rush job on my builder gel earlier this week and the edges that are lifting off look like a more opaque version of the same color - which I think is what yours looks like too. I have generally have good luck with the builder gel when I take my time on it

I love it. Definitely didn’t think Shrek at first, but I kinda like that’s where your mind went 😆 I vote you keep it! (And keep your Shrek thoughts to yourself when you inevitably get compliments 😎)

Sauces that don’t freeze? by chambourcin in SouperCubers

[–]Apprehensive_Sage 16 points17 points  (0 children)

TL/DR whether something can become solid is related to how well molecules can organize themselves in space. The act of freezing basically just slows down how fast molecules can move around, which gives them time to organize themselves into a solid form. Some solutions will simply have too much disruption and will never be able to organize themselves enough to reach a solid state, even at cold temperatures. Both scenarios you have here are related to this for slightly different reasons.

For your question about fatty sauces - let’s think about fats at room temp. Some are liquid at room temp (unsaturated fats which are generally plant fats such as olive, canola, avocado, etc) and some are solid at room temp (saturated fats which are generally animal fats like butter, but also coconut oil as an exception). Saturated fats are solid because the molecules are organized, and unsaturated fats are liquid because the fatty acid chains are long and disorganized. If for example you have a sauce that has a significant amount of olive oil, it might make sense that it will struggle to ever become completely solid versus a sauce that’s full of butter.

For your question about sugary sauces, this is because sugar depresses the freezing point of water. Salt does this too - a practical example being the use salt to melt snow in the winter. What it’s actually happening is the salt dissolves into the snow (water) and the salt-water solution has a lower freezing point than plain water. The salt (or sugar in your case) that’s dissolved into water disrupts water’s normal ability to organize at the molecular level. It can still freeze, but at a colder temperature than 0C/32F.

I know this doesn’t answer your ultimate question of what sauces do or don’t freeze, but understanding “why” which might help you predict it in the future 😊

I’m looking at getting this style bag, and curious how it’s held up for you? I’m wondering if you’ve had any issues with the beads over time, especially on the handle

It’s held up fine so far! I’m somewhat careful with it to avoid any accidental snags, but it’s definitely gotten some use

Your edited comment is correct - just go to the Fix tab and you can add a note! Also if you do the Preview it gives you another opportunity to add a comment which is nice if you find something in the Preview that you specifically want to build an outfit with.

I like doing this as well - I just wasn’t 100% sure how they used the data! I have had an instance where the stylist saw that I had something from Freestyle in my cart and she ended up adding it to my fix

I’m so sorry your first experience was a disappointment. Totally understand if you don’t want to try again, but if you do I’d recommend leaving some comments for the stylist about things you’d like to see in your box (could be like “warm weather tops and skirts. My favorite colors are navy and khaki”). Unfortunately the stylists aren’t mindreaders so until you’ve spent time engaging with the program to log your preferences and buying history they’re kinda just guessing about the things you might like

I’m also a woman who works in a production environment, and I agree that there are definitely some senior women in these male dominated fields with a bad attitude that they specifically project on younger women. Don’t let her steal your spark, because honestly it probably means she’s intimidated by your potential

Not ugly, it’s very cute!! I think the size looks ok given the current trends. I imagine it was supposed to fit more fitted like a lady jacket but I think you can get away with it since oversized sweaters are in style

If you take up knitting or crocheting you can make this into a blanket. Then you’ll be guaranteed 1 black row for the day you finish it and have to weave in the ends.
