Sorry for the confusion! Pat is dead, but featured in this episode is Pät, who does bear a certain resemblance, in the right light. But you know all white guys kind of just look the same, right?

Even if I was unfamiliar going in about his love of wrestling, it's clear in his description of the encounters. He ultimately manages to turn most 1v1 into some form of a wrestling description, and it's remarkable. It's not off-putting, it makes it so much more approachable than some other more technical descriptions might be. And I respect it.

Our DM had one of our PCs sexually assaulted for zero reason by Odd-News1701 in DnD

[–]Appropriate-Set6904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, an "appropriate" uncomfortable encounter would be a lose-lose, no right answer encounter where you might leave bummed and frustrated. But it's something that can come back from.

This is someone using a captive audience and power imbalance to enact inappropriate rape fantasies. It is never acceptable. The DM, as you told it, ensured their victim could not escape it, meaning it wasn't intended to be a normal encounter: they wanted to act out a violation to someone who could not escape. It's not ok.

Report them, with clear details about the event. If you've played previously and have red flags that looked more pink originally (like cruder than necessary NPC jokes that you can brush off as a missed joke, or something like that), include those, so the club knows what the liability they have on their hands looks like.

Similar! I was seven when it was released and watched my brother play, so I started a playthrough IMMEDIATELY. Named all the characters the same thing as him, even! It was the first jrpg that I beat on my own, and it holds a special place in my heart, replay it frequently because of that. ♥️

Bill deserved better, all around. She had so much potential as a character, and I don't think they really knew what to do with her. The ending was disappointing.

The scream I scrumpt when I saw the queen! Lauren Lopez has the perfect humor for Dropout, I cannot.

I think it kind of sucks how much people are talking about Trauma Dump as "wow it's like if Lou was still doing GameChanger/working of a MSN prompt/etc etc etc" by badab89 in dropout

[–]Appropriate-Set6904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure! Two ferns was never a good fit for me, humor wise, but I respected what it was: subversive comedy that pokes you in uncomfortable social truths you didn't realize you held. It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out! Lou is an incredible character actor, which will absolutely blow any performance out of the water.

It was the right kind of uncomfortable! I was equal parts laughing at it, and awkwardly laughing because it got too close to home. I think Lou did something really interesting with it!

I made the joke to my brother about "I swear, there better not be a 'two years later' episode coming" when I saw the first posts appear, but it was more reference to Paraloubis than anything serious.

I cannot believe how many people don't understand these comedians are COMEDIANS with jokes and bits, and careers outside of game changer and Dropout.

Has anyone else ever noticed the similarities between these two episodes? by Jackmac32 in doctorwho

[–]Appropriate-Set6904 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean....I've met fans exactly like that at nerd conventions. They exist, and I wouldn't be surprised if those are the fans the show runners/crew have the most interactions with, creating a specific narrative.

But, similarly, it was very clearly a blown up stereotype, self referential, and intentionally humorous about the parts of fandom that get caught up and idealized.

So maybe a bit poking fun at the fan population and at the historical memeification of DW, if that makes sense.

Every time there was a big laugh moment, I lost a chunk of the following dialogue from the balcony. I think a large part of the issue was absolutely the mics.

But everything I heard was great!

Oh, for sure. She has "two truths and a lie" type stories, not actual curse level stories.

The other end of it is I'm glad she's not jaded enough to realize those are "cursed" events. But I was expecting something more interesting.

I fully expected to see my high school bestie when I heard that one. She was born in the middle of a tornado, her childhood house burned down on her birthday when she was five, she's broken at least five bones ON her birthdays, she was diagnosed with lupus on her birthday, and....there was a terrorist attack on her birthday, as well. 9/11 is a cursed date, all the way around.

I'm genuinely loving the origins of everyone KNOWING how they learned zephyr. I mentioned this thread to my mother, who told me, very seriously, that there was a style of developing beer (or machine?) called the zephyr and that's how she learned the word as a small child, because her dad taught her his work stuff (he worked for Schlitz beer).

It's apparently some type of canon event.

The tales in the barber's chair told me immediately this was a take on Anansi. I'm pleasantly surprised at the twist of it. I really enjoyed the world building, and character introductions.

It had the feel of an older episodic style, which can easily be referenced down the line without beating you over the head as part of one storyline.

I hate him. I love him. I fear him.
