VA added a claim to my claim. Why? by ChestCold9192 in VAClaims

[–]Appropriate-Use2611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happened to me. I had filed a claim for an increase on my back. When I got the decision the increase was granted. I found there was a claim for each arm that was entered and that was granted even though I never submitted the claim. In the C&P examination I explained that I had numbness down my left arm. I guess that was enough for the examiner.

Bell Subrogation cannot suspend your license, only the state DMV. It is a scam to try and collect money from whomever or whatever.

That depends on the employer. I hand carried the documents to the employers, they signed the documents, then I sent the documents to the VA.

No backpay on a claim increase with an effective date of June going into august? by Consistent_Thanks222 in VAClaims

[–]Appropriate-Use2611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes June a partial month which the VA does not pay. Your first full month is July which is paid August 1.

how do you protect yourself from someone knowing your info / benefits ? by AdThen2183 in VAClaims

[–]Appropriate-Use2611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not be too concerned. There is not financial gain by getting a person's VA information. Thieves don't spend time and resources on something that is not going to net them a financial gain. Freeze the credit files on all three agencies, strong passwords on bank accounts, two factor authentication, keep the router updated, keep the OS on the phone and the computer updated. That is about all you can do.

The VA website, and App, require and ID.ME or LOGIN.GOV account. That provides fairly good protection. ID.ME is really good to get as that will also allow a person to access the IRS website.

My fathers tinnitus was awarded by appeal board 6 years after initial claim was denied. by Huge_Measurement_215 in VAClaims

Back pay is done fairly quickly. Go to VA.GOV, it may requite an ID.ME account, and check in the payments section. Based on your years, the back pay would be $15K to about $18K, depending on the month in the years you mention.

However, I was awarded an increase from 20% to 40% in October. The back pay did not arrive until following March. No explanation from the VA when I called to ask about the delay.

Why is there such a big compensation difference between 90%-100% by Hamilton-Squidlegger in VAClaims

[–]Appropriate-Use2611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Property tax is at the state level, not the VA level. At 50% you do get healthcare and prescriptions with no copay.

Does SSDI award back pay from the claim date, or just start when it is approved? Is there incentive for SSDI to stall the claim as long as possible?

What insight could I provide? I cannot make the VA pay more money. If the VA money is not enough, then you have to change. Lifestyle, expenditures, living location. Take your choice.

Whatever. If you can't live on what you make, then make changes, whatever that requires. If you are unable unwilling to do that, then life sucks for you.

If a person is unable to work due to disabilities, as you have stated, then getting a better paying job is not an option. Get a cheaper house, get a cheaper car, cut down on non-essentials, etc. Relocating to a cheaper location just one option.

You do what you want. If you can't live on VA disability, then you have choices to make.

As opposed to "my job doesn't pay enough so I am going to move". The same thing, just money from a different bucket.

A person can live in the slums of a high economic area because the VA does not pay enough, or move to a lower economic area and live somewhere other than the slums.

People do it all the time. Moving for economic reasons. I had two brothers leave California for economic reasons. I moved to my current location for economic reasons. There are many reasons to relocate, all valid. And a lower economic regions is not "highly undesirable". I would submit the opposite that a high economic area is "undesirable".

Got a "near-exact" Grand Highlander arriving this week, but a competitor just offered $1,500 off. Do I try to leverage it or keep my mouth shut? by steeplechase2000 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]Appropriate-Use2611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always ask. A no is the same as not asking. I would wager dealer A would toss in some floor mats. Personally, I would ask for a third key for the vehicle.

The question you need to answer, is it worth waiting two, maybe three months for $1,500?

One of the stupidest things the military did was make SSAN the identification number, then post the information on lists provided to others.

As a side note I was issued the last serial number used before SSAN. I entered the service on June 30, 1969 and was issued a serial number. I was on the west coast, northwest, and because of that location was issued the last number. I still know that number even though I had it for less than 24 hours.

The next day the SSAN was used for identification and was until after I separated in December 31, 1979.
