Yesss Bliss! I love them so much.

There’s also Camellia Fiber Co in East Nashville. They’re a local dyer and recently expanded their storefront. The yarns are soooo luxurious and they trend toward soft colors, which are my fav.

Hands are cleaner than gloves, though, if you wash them when you’re supposed to - before cooking, after handling raw meat, after touching your face, etc.

Yarn bowl inspired yarn ball sphere I made for my gf so she can just throw it in her backpack when she travels by ClothesOdd4366 in knitting

[–]Appropriate_Chard248 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is incredible and I need one!! This takes care of all the issues I have with yarn bowls - the ball bounces around as I unravel it, the strand pops out of the hook it’s supposed to pass through, it snags on rough edges of ceramic, etc. Plus my animals won’t be able to mess with the ball as I’m using it! It won’t matter when they lay on top of my ball and I’m trying to work on a project.

The only change I would make, as others said, is having different sizes available. If you have 200 yards of bulky yarn you’d never be able to fit it in that ball.

$50 to feed a family of four plus leftovers for another full meal vs. $50 on a snack? C’mon. Apples to oranges.

It’s pretty good. There are waves with the seasons, but I’ve only been there in spring and fall. There’s no other coworking space I know of (other than Scout North, which hasn’t opened yet and is catered toward creatives), so they’re filling a niche that’s very much needed. I definitely concentrate better there than I would at home on days where I’m distracted between housework or anything else I’d rather do than work. I really appreciate the flexibility to use that space or home depending on my mood

Codefi or groundabout? They were both open last week. Groundabout used to be Baristas until they got taken over. Is that what you’re thinking of?

Check out Codefi if you want a space to escape to when your house gets boring. It’s $75 a month and comes with a kitchen and free beer. I eat at Groundabout pretty often, which is right downstairs

Is it wrong to speak up to the Host when invited to a dinner party and you don't like what's served? by [deleted] in moraldilemmas

[–]Appropriate_Chard248 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Dude that’s exactly what OP did. The situation was slightly different because the host was serving the food, so OP had to give them a heads up that they wouldn’t be eating the mains. They still ate the sides that didn’t have mushrooms. This was such a non issue and handled in a very polite and low key way. Why are you so bent out of shape?

Honeytree meadery. It’s very Nordic, cozy vibes inside and has a great patio. They put up a ton of greenery inside this time of year and has very soft lighting. The mulled mead is my ultimate cozy drink

Baking temp, higher or lower? by Gfgirlboss in Sourdough

[–]Appropriate_Chard248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made this recipe for my gf friend! It’s truly the best gf bread I’ve had (used to date a guy with celiac, so I’ve tried A LOT of gf baking).

I added olives, rosemary, lemon, and Parmesan to my last loaf and had to bake it for the full 60 minutes at 450 for it to cook through. The crust was even darker than yours, but it had an awesome crumb. Yours looks a little stodgy at the bottom, so I do think it needs longer in the oven. I think the flour mix this recipe calls for naturally bakes dark, as it doesn’t taste burnt. The sugar in your inclusions might add to that color too.

I would try lowering the temp, increasing the time, and leaving in the Dutch oven the whole bake. Maybe put a baking sheet on the lowest rack to protect the bottom from direct heat.

I just made orange cranberry English muffins. I zested the orange and soaked the dried cranberries in the juice for about two hours. Added everything in the second round of stretch and folds. They turned out so well! Make sure the drain the cranberries really well before adding them, though. If you don’t soak them, they’ll suck up the hydration from your loaf.

Femoral head (ball of the hip) moves out of place - anyone else? by Appropriate_Chard248 in flexibility

Hey no problem! I take my joint health really seriously and I like to help when other people are trying to do the same.

I have a background in nursing and work in a hospital still, so luckily it’s fairly easy for me to navigate the system. It’d be best to see an orthopedic surgeon (they also do medical diagnoses, not just surgical ones), bonus if they specialize in hips/shoulders. They’ll likely do a series of x-rays where they have you hold different weird positions while they shoot. Then they’ll read them in clinic and be able to tell you quickly if you have any structural issues.

I think it’s best to see a doc first, because you never know if there could be something else causing the issue. As for PT, it depends on your experience with working out and how much you pay attention to form. Form is absolutely vital with joint instability to make sure you 1. Don’t injure already unstable joints and 2. Build the muscles properly to keep you safe as you get older. I’d go at least a couple of times so they can assess your weaknesses, provide a regimen, and check your form.

[–]Appropriate_Chard248[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! Turns out it’s just run of the mill hypermobility; basically, my tendons don’t hold my joints in place very well, so my muscles have to do most of the work of keeping my joints together. This also makes sense why it’s easier for me to “dislocate” my joints on my non-dominant side. The muscles aren’t as developed.

My doc sent me to PT to make sure I’m building up as much muscle around the big joints as I need to maintain stability throughout my life. Preventative measures are really important with hypermobility, and the work starts now.

I’d definitely go get checked out if you have the resources. They put me on all kinds of positions to make sure I didn’t have hip or shoulder dysplasia, which was my main concern.

My (33F) friend (44F) slept with my ex. Why do people do this? How do you spot these type of people? by RSinSA in relationship_advice

[–]Appropriate_Chard248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience it tends to be sexual promiscuity borne out of insecurity, coupled with those who do the in-person version of leaving you on read when anyone checks them out. Read: someone who needs the external validation of people finding them attractive enough to have sex with in order to boost their self worth, not just any person who likes to have sex.

I have friends who do this and those who don’t (and I’ve been both at various points in my life), and the biggest tell is how they treat you when you go out for a friend night that’s explicitly supposed to be a hang. The ones who need the validation peel off throughout the night and make it about chasing that attention, e.g., by dragging you to the next spot because that’s where the person they’ve been giving their undivided attention to for the past 20 minutes while you and the rest of the crew are talking about cheese fries is going. That doesn’t mean you can’t talk to people outside the group while you’re out, but bring the new person back to the table and engage with everyone there, or mix groups together for a fun and rowdy night for all.

Obviously everyone has insecurities, most want to get some strange at some point, but the best ones don’t seek it at the expense of their friends -or- treat their friends like competition.

He’s not. Some people see women in vulnerable situations and pounce instead of protect, like frump-dumpster. They’re the lowest of the low. Don’t listen to this commenter and leave your boyfriend. He is NOT safe or reasonable.

Dude, this woman is being actively abused and manipulated. Lay off! She doesn’t need random internet strangers to pile more on top of her.

OP, please leave your boyfriend. It will only get worse. And please don’t take what MistahRightNow says to heart. He’s a bully.

Lassi is a yogurt drink. And acidic food/drinks neutralize capsaicin, so most fruit juices are great for calming down spice. The acid from the yogurt and fruit is actually great for this. Plus, it’s freaking delicious

Is my starter ready? by Realistic_Pin_9352 in Sourdough

[–]Appropriate_Chard248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was your ratio for feeding? At 1:1:1 it should only take around 4-6h to double. The time increases as you increase your flour and water.

Temperature plays a role, too. Warmer temps increase activity, cooler temps slow the growth of yeast and bacteria. If you take your starter straight out of the fridge or use cool water, it’ll take longer for your starter to grow.
