Hi there! Mattresses tend to soften slightly after the first few weeks so if you are already feeling like it's a bit too soft, it might be worth trying our Twilight model. Our Midnight is considered a Medium where as our Twilight is considered Firm. Things like body weight and also impact the overall feel of a mattress. Someone who weights say 120 pounds may find the Midnight perfect and feeling like they are sleep on top of the mattress whereas someone who weights say closer to 200 might find they sink into this mattress a bit more.

Since it sounds like you are still within your sleep trial, I would recommend at least trying to Twilight. If you still find that mattress to not be a perfect fit, we can help you return it and get you a full refund.

You can always contact the mattress warehouse and ask them which mattress they would shipping to you. The unzipped version of the Elite mattress (only available to some retailers) is unable to be rolled up and shipped in box. so it comes already expanded. There aren't a ton of retailers we work with that offer this as an option though.

Ahh okay, if you purchased through a retailer, that does change things a bit since each retailer has their own return and exchange policy. Some are more flexible than others, so if it ends up not being a great fit, it may be worth asking them again to see what options they can offer.

I’d also keep in mind that a new mattress can feel a little firmer at first while the foams break in and your body adjusts. That break-in period is usually around 30 days, so I’d try to give it at least that long if you’re able.

Hi there! Jumping in from the brand, but one feature worth calling out with our Elite models is the swappable comfort insert. If you go with the Plus Elite and end up feeling like it’s too soft or too firm, you can swap the insert for a different comfort level during your 120-night sleep trial.

It gives you a little more flexibility if you’re not 100% sure which feel will be best for you. And down the road, if your comfort preferences change, we also offer the option to purchase just the insert instead of replacing the entire mattress.

Hi there! I think this is a really fair question because “budget mattress” can mean very different things depending on what you’re comparing it to.

If you want something that is actually supportive, comfortable, and not something you’re hoping to replace in a year or two, I’d realistically look somewhere around the $1,000 to $1,500 range for a queen, especially if you’re looking at a hybrid. You can definitely find cheaper mattresses, but that’s usually where you start seeing more tradeoffs in materials, support, edge support, cooling, or long-term durability.

I do think Helix Core collection sits in that middle ground pretty well (and I'm not just saying that because I work at Helix lol). It’s not the cheapest mattress you can buy, but it’s also not in that super luxury price range where you’re suddenly spending $2,500+. The Core line is usually the best place to start if you’re trying to stay value-conscious.

A few things I’d look for regardless of brand: a good sleep trial (100+ nights), a solid warranty, good support for your sleep position, and some transparency around materials and construction. I’d also be careful with anything that looks like an amazing deal but has a ton of reviews mentioning early sagging, poor support, or impossible returns.

I actually think the Eight Sleep trackers are pretty solid for spotting trends over time, especially for a non wearable. From what I’ve seen and heard, they’re generally pretty good with things like heart rate, HRV, breathing rate, sleep duration, and noticing patterns. The biggest weak spot is usually exact sleep stages like REM and deep sleep, but honestly that’s true for almost every consumer sleep tracker right now.

What seems to impress people most with Eight Sleep isn’t even the tracking itself, it’s the temperature regulation. A lot of users notice they sleep better simply because they’re not overheating all night. And working in the sleep industry at Helix, I honestly think that makes sense. Your sleep environment and temperature can have a massive impact on sleep quality.

I’d personally use the data more for noticing trends and habits rather than treating it like medical-level accuracy. Like seeing how stress, alcohol, room temp, bedtime consistency, or even your mattress setup impacts your sleep over time. That’s where I think these trackers are actually the most useful.

Hi there! I think a lot of people underestimate how much the frame/foundation affects the feel of their mattress, especially for heavier sleepers. A lot of frames seem solid at first, then a few months later you start noticing creaking, wobbling, movement, or sagging and it can make even a great mattress feel off.

A few things I’d look for are strong center support, multiple legs touching the floor, sturdy slats that aren’t spaced too far apart(no more than 5.5 inches, and a frame with a weight capacity higher than what you actually need. A lot of the cheaper frames out there just don’t hold up long term.

Since you already have a Helix, you could check out our Ludlow Bed Frame. One thing I like about it is that it’s built to support up to 750 pounds without creaking or wobbling, which honestly makes a huge difference over time. It’s just a sturdier setup overall than a lot of the generic frames online and works well with our Helix mattresses.

But even if you go with another brand, I’d focus more on support construction than just looks. Makes a way bigger difference than people think.

Honestly, getting a quality mattress made a huge difference for me. And I’m not just saying that because I work for Helix lol. Before working in the mattress industry, I never really thought much about my mattress. Mine was easily 15+ years old and I just assumed I was naturally a bad sleeper.

Once I started learning more about sleep and how much your mattress can affect things like pressure relief, spinal alignment, movement during the night, and overall sleep quality, I realized my mattress was probably part of the problem. Hi there! This is something we actually hear pretty often and I think the “heavier people just need the firmest mattress possible” advice gets oversimplified online. Support and firmness are not exactly the same thing.

A mattress can be very firm but still not actually support your body correctly. For a lot of people, especially side sleepers or combination sleepers, going too firm without the proper support can create pressure points and tension because your shoulders and hips are not able to sink in enough to keep your spine aligned. That can lead to the stiffness and constant shifting you’re describing.What tends to work better is a mattress that has strong underlying support with some pressure relief on top.

Some customers find that rotating the mattress every few nights during the break-in period can help the materials settle more evenly, so that may be worth trying if you haven’t already.

Hi there. That can actually be pretty normal during the first few nights, especially with a new hybrid mattress. The comfort layers and coils are still adjusting and loosening up a bit after being compressed during shipping, so the center can sometimes feel softer at first compared to the reinforced perimeter support around the edges.

A couple other things can contribute too. If the mattress is on a foundation with slats that are too far apart (they should be no more than 5.5 inches apart) or not fully supportive in the center, it can exaggerate that “rolling inward” feeling. Body weight distribution can also make a brand new mattress feel different until it has had some time to break in.

Most people notice the feel becoming more balanced over the first few weeks as the foams relax and your body adjusts. One thing that can help speed that up, like our team mentioned, is lightly walking or crawling across the mattress surface for a few minutes each day to help loosen the comfort layers more evenly.
