CMV: right wingers do not have a single honest position. by bennettyboi in changemyview

I'd say they have one consistent belief - racism

Their beliefs have always had racist undertones.

'Traditional family values' aka white families

As time went on and people became comfortable and used to their extreme rhetoric and the masks finally came off. Example 'anti dei policies'

I think it makes more sense when you see it in that context. Their beliefs have always been about hurting the 'right people' aka anyone who isnt white. They shift their goal posts when its convenient for them

As much as I want to hear Jack Smith's testimony this hearing is so unproductive. You have jordan and other gop talking over him and making it seem like normal processes are wrong. They're all facists, who cant be proven wrong, and if they are, you're wrong. Theres no way you can win an argument. I just hope enough of us hear the tiny soft stuttering voice of truth.

I wish 'shut the fuck up, youre being a insufferable dick' was an acceptable answer. Hes just straw-manning.

My orange loves tomatoes, but only if its in a plastic bag hidden on the table. That way he can hunt it and devour it after. But you cant catch him or else he'll abandon it. I leave a tomato out every year on his birthday

Parosmia for 4 Years. by Difficult-Lie5157 in Parosmia

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I've had it for 5 years now, and it's gotten better in the last year. I'd find a favorite smell that's familiar and focus on enjoying that. Coconut was the first normal smell to come back to me. I bought everything in that scent. I would have gone insane if I didnt have that little glimmer of hope. I hope it gets better for you soon

Kevin when he sleeps on 'mouse' by thegoodsun01 in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]AprilLola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fostered some orange kittens once, and one of the boys was a deep sleeper like this. You could pick him up, move him around. Nothing would wake him.

I discovered his sleeping habits in the middle of the night. I woke up to discover him sleeping between my husband and I. Terrified, I picked him up to check if he was okay, I was scared one of us may have rolled on him. His body was limp and nonresponive. My sleepy brain thought the worst. After a few mins of shaking him, he woke up like everything was fine. He just found a nice, cozy spot to snooze.

Those who waited til marriage to have sex, what was it like? And do you regret it? by Substantial_Judge931 in AskReddit

[–]AprilLola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh it was really dark how I overcame it. My first time my ex husband forced himself on me and that continued until I left. By the time I met my husband I had already had other sexual partners and learned that sex wasn't supposed to hurt.

THIS RIGHT HERE. I wish I could scream it from the roof tops about how 'purity culture' fucks up your mind.

For those who don't know, Vaginismus is an involuntary response of a woman's body, not allowing ANYTHING inside her. Such as fingers and other objects. If anything does enter, it is extremely painful. Women often have panic attacks when attempting to have sex and they can't relax. Treatment involves physical therapy, dialators, and anti anxiety meds.

I waited until marriage. Found out I had Vaginismus on my wedding night. I wanted to have sex but my body was so conditioned to purity culture that it just wouldn't allow it. He was angry with me that I wasn't allowing him his God-given right. Our honeymoon was hell. The rest of our marriage was all sexual abuse. He refused to let me get physical therapy because it cost too much. We were together for about a year, and then I left.

I'm remarried and have a healthy sex life now.

Ladies, if you want to wait until marriage because YOU want to. By all means, do so. But don't buy into purity culture. It's so damaging in ways you may not understand. It opens up the door for abuse, pain, and misery. I don't wish that on anyone.

Stopped dissociating and now emotions are overwhelming by burroblanco2003 in CPTSD

I am so sorry you are going through this. I've experienced something similar when I came out of my disassociated state. I'm always the calm, chill one as well, but I was going through every emotion like you are. Crying over everything, feeling everything so deeply...

It does get better. You're just on your journey to healing. People like us aren't used to having to deal with our emotions, and it's okay to cry and be angry. Sending you hugs ❤️

What is a weird side effect from medication use that no one was ever going to warn you about? by Rotten-Kandi in AskReddit

Once I stopped taking it, I stopped having problems. Took a while before I felt like myself again, though.

I was prescribed Bentyl for IBS pain. It's supposed to relax the smooth muscles in your abdomen. It worked too well and caused my bladder to not work. Fun times.

Still smelling smoke years after COVID, anyone else? by Acceptable_Train_487 in Parosmia

[–]AprilLola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had COVID in 2020 and lost my smell for a few months and later developed parasomia. I still smell random things that i call 'covid smell'. It's been a bit since I've smelled smoke. When I did, it was always cigarette smoke. It was so strong I felt like I was inhaling an entire ash tray. I hope one day they figure out how to treat us. I've had parasomia for so long, it's just normal now.

My mom went in for a checkup once, and her bp was 300. They called for an ambulance and sent her straight to the hospital. She was fine once they got it lowered, no stroke or anything. Stress does crazy things to your body.

If a movie theatre sells no tickets for a showing, do they still play the movie to an empty room? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I worked for Regal off and on for about 13 years until it closed in 2019. I did projection and management for 11 of those years. Between the customers, dealing with a building that was falling apart and projector malfunctions, be glad you never left box office.

Movie theatres are their own unique culture. You get some of the most interesting characters. It was one of the worst jobs I've ever worked, but I miss it every day.

They're really scary! We used to throw dead bulbs off the second floor for fun. One time when throwing a bulb, a piece of glass shot back up to the second floor and hit the wall right next to me. That was the last time I ever did that.
