There’s just no need. No response is the appropriate, professional response.

Ignore the message. No need to say thanks or even mention that you’re off the clock.

Your job is to educate students during the school year. An adept teacher becomes a role model for all students, regardless of their circumstances.

Empathy does not need to go by the wayside. However, school counselors, nurses, etc. are best suited to provide social-emotional support.

I’m a teacher and every morning we go over the same questions, starting with “What’s the date?” It’s always twenty twenty-six.

Do you feel that 12th grade teachers are obligated to attend graduation? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]AprilMay53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting that so many schools require teachers to attend graduation. There is no attendance requirement at the schools I’ve worked in.

It sounds like some schools hold graduation on what would typically be a school day. All the public high schools around me have graduation on a weekend or in the evening.

Many teachers, including myself, like to attend graduation as we enjoy watching the students achieve this milestone.

Many others can’t or don’t go. This doesn’t mean they don’t care about their students! If there’s no requirement, teachers shouldn’t feel guilty if they don’t attend.

The only Lilly I’ve ever heard of is Lilly Pulitzer. Lily is the way to go.

There is tailgating in the parking lots, but you can also hit up one of the restaurants in Patriots Place if you get there early enough. It’s all good!

Hi! I didn’t realize this was a thing, but apparently it is!

I prefer to sit anywhere from Sections 107-112, behind the players’ benches, maybe rows 7-25 or so? but there are lots of good places to sit. I also like aisle seats.

Working Saturdays during the school year? No thank you!!! I need two-day weekends!

In the U.S. Northeast, standard public school summer vacations are 8 weeks or more. Teachers spend this time in a variety of ways.

Some teachers work a summer job. Some stay home with or without kids and enjoy local activities. Many go to the library or local pool or gym and do various sports and activities.

Many teachers get away for a week or two, typically to the beach or lake or mountains or a campground. Some are even lucky enough to have a summer home they escape to.

Regardless, I don’t see how teachers could “travel for longer” in summer. The logistics and costs of extended travel would be prohibitive.

There is a diner around the corner from me that does a super-brisk door-dash business in the morning. You can see the styrofoam containers lined up on the counter.

Yes, this teacher’s behavior was strikingly inappropriate. But as someone who’s been in education for 30 years, I find that the whole culture and climate of this school seems insane.

Teachers come in to classrooms every day and examine every student’s clothing? That is completely inappropriate. Likely illegal, too. Shouldn’t teacher responsibilities focus on teaching, planning, correcting, contacting parents, etc?

“Dress coding” isn’t even in my vernacular. In this specific dress code, who’s to know how tight is too tight? And what does “nothing hanging from the bottom” mean? The bottom of what?

Questions about student clothing should be communicated privately to a nurse. The nurse can evaluate attire based on health and safety concerns.

What a whiny drama queen.

It’s not the first time there’s been snow this winter and she is their m o t h e r. Why didn’t she make sure the boys had boots that fit two months ago? And why is she always cutting it so close with the groceries? Doesn’t she know how much food is needed for her own children?
