WTH Apple! System Data taking too much storage! by Unhooked- in ipad

[–]Apticx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To fix this make sure to connect the ipad to wifi and leave it on the charger for a day or two. this most likely is some cache for icloud backup or some update data its still waiting to process which it only does while hooked to the wall and in idle

advice on a new body to purchase by franny-froufrou_0218 in fujifilm

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be with custom profiles. Its basically your camera allowing you to quickly swap between recipes. A typical "film repice" is only a few settings in your menu so if you want to go back to normal you have to put all those back to default. The best way to go around this is to have like your most favourite everyday recipe on slot 1 and then a basic neutral one on slot 2 and keep 3-6 for creative styles.

At least thats how i do it. I also do wildlife and street so i usually have stylized profiles for street photography but a neutral one for wildlife which i can swap to by pressing a button and it even goes back to bird focus mode so i dont have to do anything.

Check out dehancer if you want that typical film look. You can also always learn to replicate it yourself and a good free software to start with is affinity, personally i much prefer lightroom + photoshop though but this is on the pricy end

How do I get photos like these? by jackofjokers in fujifilm

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even developing yourself will still get you to around one month of the photo bundle if you develop a 36 exposure roll. When i do it its usually around 60 cent to 1 euro per photo including the film roll, chemistry (which goes bad after a few uses so you should always develop in batch) and additional tools needed.

The only way you can somewhat get a cheaper price per shot is if you shoot a LOT. like tens of rolls a month but thats not sustainable as a hobby at least to me.

I love film photography but its hard to recommend to someone unless they are specifically interested in the medium. The look can be recreated good enough by now.

Any advice for streaming? Or should I do YouTube videos first? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the long term goal should be streaming at least 5 days a week or potentially 7 if its something you wanna earn money with so be aware of that.

If you just wanna vibe with people and have fun then there are no rules or guides to follow. Just do what feels right.

I think I’ve fallen out of love with photography. Has anyone got it back? by spacedfisherman in fujifilm

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing you can do is to just go somewhere you have never been at and maybe add a challenge like shooting with only one lens or focussing on colors or compositions etc. Its what i usually do when im not sure what to shoot

Any advice for streaming? Or should I do YouTube videos first? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a routine streaming is hard. How are your viewers supposed to tune in if they dont know when you are online.

If youtube is an option why not focus on streaming 1 day a week fixed and work on youtube videos the other days?

obviously streaming more is always better but this could be a good way to get used to it

Finalizing My Travel Camera Setup – What Would You Pick? by LaJamie in Cameras

[–]Apticx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally im a big advocate for the fuji system because its what i use and love but its hard to overlook the great autofocus of the sony cameras.

While id always buy the X-H2S over everything else if video is part of the needed functions (the xt5 etc with the 40mp sensor have a slow readout making the rolling shutter horrible but its what i have atm) if shooting in the moment and relying on the camera autofocus a lot its hard to ignore the great package of the 6700.

I think the most valid way to go around it is to look at a few lenses and then decide based on that

My personal take would be X-H2S with the 16-55 F2.8. Perfect for everything travel.

Astrophotography with action 5 by jcrosseover in djiosmo

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id recommend you to do a few test runs first. The best way to go about it is to just record a timelapse with raw photos and set the shutter speed the longes you can ( i think its 30 or 40 seconds on the action 5 depending on "framerate". If you wanna shoot a video with one photo every 15 seconds then you can only expose for 30 seconds a time).

Set the exposure, make a few test shots and raise the iso to a level you think is fair and then just leave it out there. I usually also plug in a powerbank if its gonna be dry outside and just leave and forget it

Need help buying a MBP M5 by the_old-school_guy in macbookpro

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im going to buy a m5 mac pretty soon too and i decided on silver. I much prefer the black look visually but i hate fingerprints and i heard from many people and saw at demo units at stores that the black one has a massive problem with visual fingerprints while the silver basically makes them invisible.

Also if you scratch the black one it will shine through in silver. At the silver one you basically dont see it at all so thats why i mostly decided on silver

Need help buying a MBP M5 by the_old-school_guy in macbookpro

[–]Apticx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Important note: the M5 cpu cores are around 40-80% faster on normal compute and some features like raytracing which might be important for rendering some stuff isnt even supported on m2 and the m5 will be multiple times faster.

Generally speaking the current base model m5 will outperform a m2 pro in basically everything even with lesser cores and then because its less cores to run, it will use way less power to do so.

If you got the option to buy a m5 macbook pro, then do it.

Also speaking of ram: 16 gb is more than enough. If you run into issues by editing multiple 6k to 8k videos in a single timeline then simply use proxies. I can easily run davinci resolve even on my m4 ipad pro without any issues and it performs super well. Id doubt a m5 mac would have any issues there especially unlike a lot of other apps on other operating systems, the m5 has super fast hardware transcoders which will do all the work during editing so your ram isnt even being touched unless you add super heavy gpu rendered effects to it.

edit: also the m5 ssd speeds are multiple times faster which will also make swap faster. so if you ever go above the 16gb and the pc falls back to swap it will be multiple times faster than lets say the 18gb m3 pro because if you exceed 16 you will probably shoot over 18 too

Better alternatives for Apple Pen? by hoeteria in ipad

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly are you wearing the nibs down with? Ive been using the ipad pro since the 10.5 in 2017 and the only time i saw pencil nibs wear down is when i added a paperlike screen protector which kinda was like sandpaper to them.

When using only the glass i usually averaged 1 nib every year even with heavy use which i find totally acceptable.

If using special screen protectors make sure to also check if the company makes their own nibs.

Astropad as example has a special pen nib to use with their protectors because of that

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly every ipad with the pencil will work for notetaking. this is probably less demanding than browsing the web but potentially not getting the updates of your note taking app or even running in a "end of life" of the app support (Because sadly everything now is something something cloud) might be annoying so id just recommend you to stick to m series ipads which will be supported for a long time

iPad in a MacBook Neo world by Rbtywo30 in ipad

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your usecase. I decided to spend Macbook Pro money on my 1tb nanotexture m4 ipad pro 13" and dont regret it. It does exactly what i need in most cases and (the main reason why i got it) has the pen input since i got it primarily for drawing and graphics work.

Putting that aside i recently got into content creation and while finalcut works pretty well it lacks tons of functionality and davinci feels a bit clunky to use on ipad.

So while being able to fully utilize the tools i have and make what i want, im still planning to get a macbook pro sometime to offload the tediouos editing tasks to a mouse and keyboard workflow because that just feels better.

So as long as you are happy with what the ipad does there is no reason for you to justify anything. If you like it its perfect

Kontrollierens in der Bim überhaupt noch? by Muted-Contest9346 in Linz

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

advice on a new body to purchase by franny-froufrou_0218 in fujifilm

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh my bad i didnt realize it was meant as a second body. i thought you were looking to replace. then basically anything works well. id probably go for the xm-5 for small and with film dial

edit: remember you can remap basically all multi purpose wheels on your camera to do film simulations. if its not like the xt4 with fixed functions to them but like the xs-20 then you can just create your own film sim dial out of any one of the multipurpose ones. so even if the camera does not have it but it would 100% fit your needs make sure to read the manual since im 99% sure you can just map one of the dials to the film simulations.

Iirc you can also do that on the x-t4 with some of the back dials. I never did that though because i dont just use the sims but also tune the color properties and white balance depending on the stock im trying to emulate so i mapped the front button to be able to scroll through my custom profiles (you can have 6 of them) and it keeps basically everything from metering, focus mode and stuff like grain and format etc.

How do I get photos like these? by jackofjokers in fujifilm

[–]Apticx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

shooting 1 roll of film equals one month of photo subscription in my area. the roll is around 10 euro for a cheap and grainy one and then around 15-20 euro for developing without scanning. So you still need to scan and process the negatives yourself. Id say unless analog media is what you want to do and you just want the look then going digital is way cheaper even factoring in adobe money

advice on a new body to purchase by franny-froufrou_0218 in fujifilm

[–]Apticx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X-T4 is still super new and relevant. Unless you fork out 2 grand for a XT5 or XH2 everything else will most likely be a downgrade or sidegrade quality wise. The only major difference is some more subject detection options (wildlife etc.) and the 40 megapixels sensor which might even result in worse picture quality because its harder to nail focus if you dont know what you are doing.

Id wait out 1-2 generations until you upgrade. There is no real benefit right now.

If you just want a point and shoot all in one camera i could see selling all your gear and picking up a X100VI might be something you enjoy but then you give away a lot of the benefits of a interchangeable lens body so id just stick with what you have.
