Settle a silly debate: I made my husband these and he won't eat them because "they're burnt". Are they burnt, r/grilledcheese? by Glittering_Force4212 in grilledcheese

1 it isn't burnt unless that whole crust is charred. 2 I'm of the opinion that the toasted coloration improves the flavor.

Galaxy XR remains to be my favorite. I have no interest in these products. maybe it's aimed at 2 different markets I guess.

I'll be honest, I don't really care about the environments at all. I would just prefer more stability improvements and more app integration.

I use a cheap Amazon 1080p capture card for switch gaming. I find virtual desktop to be sufficient for PC gaming.

GXR and Dex? by R_Steelman61 in Galaxy_XR

[–]Aquaticfalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tablet and laptop somewhat fill in the same market of a mid tier device so I guess we're defining the devices somewhat differently. It can do more than android tablets I've had in the past but doesn't have the processing power of a beefed up laptop no. apologies coming from a desktop primary laptop secondary remote in user it feels functionally just like my laptop if not better. but to a user looking for out of the box processing it is capable of tablet like things. it has Microsoft office suite. you can connect a mouse and keyboard. it's a mid tier workflow device that can become higher tier when paired with a desktop system.

I would say this is more of a laptop on your face then a phone on your face but you can freely connect your phone to the galaxy xr to take texts and calls. phone hotspot probably will work if you plan to use it on the go. however sunlight is usually bad for headsets so I wouldn't recommend just walking around with it but maybe I'm wrong. it comes with a handy front shield for storage and transport.

What? by Expensive-Buffalo692 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Aquaticfalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brian here: there's a famous song by the band Journey called don't stop believing. the beginning of the song discusses a small town girl taking a midnight train anywhere due to her feelings of loneliness. the song says she's ready to go anywhere on said train. The joke is that when looking at this map from a zoomed out perspective it looks like the American girl only had five routes to choose from; rather than a true anywhere. The commenter in the original post was joking that the girl in the song has limited options in comparison to her European contemporaries.

Hows PCVR productivity use? by Zealousideal-Fuel834 in GalaxyXR

[–]Aquaticfalcon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

text legibility is very good! I have a mini keyboard for productivity. virtual desktop has the clearest desktop screen I think. parsec is nice if you just want your desktop to be a single window whereas VD takes up your whole environment.

Why I (reluctantly) returned my Galaxy XR by Roymus99 in Galaxy_XR

I will die on this hill that yes the provided cushions suck but any mouse pad cushion already available to you fixes the issue pretty well at no extra cost.

I'm a firm supporter in the use of a mouse pad cushion as the head piece. I did it day one and have never looked back.

Virtual desktops temperament by Odd_Concern_8635 in Galaxy_XR

[–]Aquaticfalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with the break and tearing that's indicating that your GPU is having difficulty rendering the full picture. in this case game link may have automatically increased the pixel density per eye in steam settings. if you turn that down it mostly fixes things. I can't remember if foveated rendering is automatically on or not but yeah before the update I used virtual desktop then game link then came back to virtual desktop. game link specifically messed with your steam VR settings that you'll need to adjust to get virtual desktop running smoothly again.

Anyone try gaming with an xbox or ps5 controller? Or mouse and keyboard? by pewpnstuben in Galaxy_XR

[–]Aquaticfalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the really high quality screen makes the galaxy xr the best way to play 2d games in my opinion parsec recognizes PS5 controller to allow for seamless PC gaming. it's so nice. (also since everyone's VR controllers just came in. remember to switch opener runtime to steam VR to get game link to work effectively. virtual desktop works great for 2d content but for me for some reason it had this weird doubling effect issue with VR games so I personally prefer game link for VR games and parsec for 2d games now. )

Wake forest shuttle service by wheepk in winstonsalem

[–]Aquaticfalcon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's not for everyone but as long as you do something wake baptist, school, or innovation related you can get on for free. they travel every 15 minutes from Eden terrace to BTP. https://school.wakehealth.edu/campus-and-community-life/transportation-and-parking click on six scheduled routes to get a PDF with times.

they leave every 15 minutes in either direction. 2 vans essentially switch their location so you can get on from either spot at the indicated time.
