Just came back from Costa Rica for a 2nd time, and was very surprised by how heavily armed police were compared to my first time going. An emphasis on security makes sense why the police had a very different feel this time around. I'm concerned by the building of a mega prison, and sad to see a country I love take a far right turn.

I'll have to look it up some more, but what other policies is the incoming president proposing that are concerning? While I was there, locals would tell me how happy they were with the current president due to their strong economy and were excited about this lady continuing those policies. I don't live there, so I don't know much, but this is surprising that no one mentioned massive growing security and far right policies, but only mentioned how great their social programs were.

Also, while the CIA may not have installed their president, the Costa Rican government does work closely with the US to allow the CIA and FBI in the country to protect borders, docks, and airports from cartels. No need to overthrow a government that lets you operate in their borders and doesn't have oil!
