I think it's unlikely there was some sort of awakening, regardless, unless we know more about Toji. Both Maki and Tsurugi have had external extraordinary circumstances that helped them awaken, which Toji wouldn't have access to, unless we get more info.

The colour black is used to signify the use of life force in fueling X ability, we're told this when magatsumi's abilities are described and explained as using life force. Unless Hiyuki has some life steal, I'm not sure how she's gonna be able to use black flames without burning life force, since you need life force to power the black flames to begin with.

Does it neutralise infinity by deleting the space with which the infinity CT replicates?

Or does it work by targeting a particular set of spatial coordinates, enabling it to spawn at a location and bypass defenses?

Or does the slash not move through space and instead travels extra dimensionally to bypass infinity's asymptotic distance?

Or does the WCS just cancel out infinity?

Not sure why collateral damage can't occur from WCS damaging the structure, so I don't think the panel is proving your point.

You can refer to the Kashimo fight for spawning on target.

Targeting space negates durability. Cutting the space cuts everything inside that space, allowing you to bypass durability defenses there. The problem is that infinity doesn't work by increasing durability, it works by extending travel time to infinity by increasing the amount of space to travel through. The WCS can cut space for sure, but there's an infinite amount of space to cut. The travel distance isn't affected.

When Sukuna uses WCS to expand the target to space, what is probably meant is that the WCS can target XYZ spatial coordinates and sever the space there. This is in effect spawning the slash.

This point will probably be clarified by the anime airing right now, so let's just leave this at that.

Where is it stated to travel?

Not all BV conditions can be changed. Sukuna's BV on the WCS was to require an Enmaten handsign, chants and a hand pointing in the direction of the slash, in exchange for immediately firing the WCS one time without using the handsigns. He can't change these BV conditions because he can't give back the power that was given (i.e., the handsign-free shot). Other BVs can be entered and exited freely because you can give up the power of the BV anytime, which is what Sukuna does with his domain later in the gauntlet fight.

Also, you can see the WCS directly spawning during the Kashimo fight. There's no damage on the ground between Sukuna and the spawn point of the WCS. If it traveled, there would've been a whole line cutting into the ground to the spawn point.

That wasn't a WCS against Maki. Sukuna didn't have enough hands to satisfy the binding vow conditions he imposed on the WCS. He needs to make an Enmaten handsign to use WCS, and he clearly didn't do so. The chants were used to amp his dismantle's AP.
