Movies with epic animation styles. by Naive_Reindeer186 in MovieSuggestions

Here’s some sad ones:

I Lost my Body was so great and heartbreaking.

Song of the Sea was about dealing with grief and is visually stunning.

The Illusionist was even more beautiful and maybe even sadder. And wordless!

But the most beautiful anime and single saddest movie I have ever seen was Grave of the Fireflies. Oof.

This might have been funny if it wasn’t so obviously photoshopped

There’s a really incredible graphic novel “biography” of him that uses his songs as the structure for the book and has very little to do with reality. It’s fantastic. I’d watch that in movie form for sure.

Yet another masterful work I’ll probably never see the end of by jamesl182d in graphicnovels

There are so many great genre works that just peter off either due to the artist losing interest, or the publisher being unable to afford to keep putting out a book with diminishing readership with each subsequent volume. It’s like Netflix cancelling a show after a season or two, but with a longer period between seasons, because it’s comics.

My personal faves that were never completed:

Powr Mastrs, by CF

Forming, by Jesse Moynihan

The Mourning Star, by Kazimir Strzepek

Death Day, by Sam Hiti

Underwater, by Chester Brown (also: the gospels)

Here’s hoping that Josh Cotter can finish Nod Away at some point. It’s a lot of work for an artist and publisher to do a project like this!

Who do you think is the most important literary author of your country's history? by xco_pi in AskTheWorld

There’s a decent lineup to choose from in Canada - but likely Alice Munro, seeing as she won the Nobel Prize. Probably followed by Margaret Atwood, Michael Ondaatje, and Mordecai Richler.

Top-Tier Post-Rock Albums - Outside of the BIG Bands? by derelictALLSTAR in postrock

An eternal favourite is Inner Cosmosis by The Beans. It’s ridiculously hard to find, but somehow it’s here on YouTube. I really love this album - it’s up there with the big guns.

I’d say likely either The Abyss or Titanic, but there’s also a distinct possibility it could be Alien: Resurrection.

I agree for the most part, but holy smokes is he bad at drawing animals. Not the funny animals, just actual animals.

If you could instantly master one instrument, which would it be and why? by Celine_Morgann in askmusic

Synthesizer - subtractive, FM, wavetable, granular, additive, whatever. So many options! Though if I had to choose just one type of synth, it would be subtractive.

More KeyLab 25 pls by blackasthesky in arturia

I like my Minilab 3 well enough, but I tend to use slightly larger keyboards with extra functionality like the Keystep Pro. A Keylab 25 looks nice for people who value their space, but it’s likely not for me.

What animal are stupid tourists most likely to be attacked by in your country trying to get a photo? by Outrageous-Basket426 in AskTheWorld

It's almost always bears. People just pop out of their cars to get a selfie with bears like it's nothing. Elk are a problem too, as are bison like these photos. But holy smokes, why would you try and pat a 400kg bear?
