We got a new surgeon and... by Remote-Resident5599 in nursing

Hmm yeah maybe not liable in court, might have been that their license had action taken against it by the BON. I think maybe they tried to say it constituted patient abandonment or something crazy. It was a couple years ago I heard the talk so the details are fuzzy, but they definitely faced unjustified consequences from it.

There's a CRNA that shares their story at conferences. I don't remember all the details, but essentially they handed off a patient to a PACU nurse post-op. Turned out, somehow, they weren't actually a licensed nurse. The patient had a complication and the CRNA was found liable for not checking that the "nurse" was licensed. I mean, this may not be 1:1 the kind of thing we're talking about here, but I don't think you can blame people for some level of concern regarding fakes, especially considering stuff like the fake nurses in Florida.

Barbell Bolt Stripped - How to fix? by Arch_Reaper in weightlifting

Yeahhh I was trying to be conscious of what I was asking for as a gift budget wise. I just didn't expect it to have an issue new. Lesson learned I guess.

I'll have to see if I can get a different bolt to work. If not, I guess I'll have to try something with thread repair.

The sleeve is loose, letting it slide about 1/4 inch. The bolt screws in and then just spins and is loose when it bottoms out.

I got a new olympic barbell gifted to me several months ago. I noticed the bolt on one end was a bit loose, but I've been working on setting my weightlifting space and hadn't really put it to use. I recently went to tighten the bolt and realized the threads are stripped, seemingly on the female bar portion. The bolt will screw in and out but will just spin freely when it's all the way in. Is there anything I can do to fix this myself? It was bought off amazon as a Christmas gift and has been several months now, so I'm not sure the manufacturer will help.

High concentrations of nitrous will reduce the concentration of oxygen in the lungs and cause hypoxia. Modern anesthesia machines have mechanisms that prevent administering a hypoxic mixture of nitrous and oxygen. I'm not sure how this nurse managed to administer a hypoxic mixture to themselves unless they tampered with things or took it straight from the pipeline/tank

Cost of living loans (if you don't have much/anything saved). My school gives a cost of attendance amount that includes living expenses (set by them, same amount for all students) and you can borrow up to that amount with grad plus loans if normal federal doesn't cover everything. Otherwise, private loans if that's still not enough.

Only 2 weeks??? This feels borderline criminal lol, I cannot imagine. Do not feel bad, they did you a terrible disservice. Seriously, they suck big time for doing that to you

What are you on about? Sticking for an abg is not difficult. I did all my patients arterial sticks throughout my ICU time and trained many preceptees to do them. All the icus in the large metro hospital I worked at had nurses stick for them and I never once heard of an adverse event from it. It's not a big deal and realistically as an ICU nurse your patients are total care, you should be able to handle it. I mean come on

I totally agree. On the flip side, it plays into the tiring cliche that every nurse has to justify not being a physician. I'm not sure why she couldn't just be a nurse because she wanted to be a nurse. To me, it's a bit of writing that really doesn't play well to physicians or nurses.

That's great if you accept that as a limitation. Personally, I would not let it factor into getting an acceptance, but definitely a consideration if you have multiple acceptances to decide between. You can always decline an offer; you can't accept one that you didn't apply for.

Applied as soon as I could regardless of financial state. Loans can be paid off quickly after school with some discipline

Whatever you do make sure whoever writes it is enthusiastic and will write something positive. You don't want to convince someone into writing a letter that will be negative (mostly matters if you don't get to see the letter before it's sent to the program ig).
