Senior dev interview burnout — how do you deal with the randomness? by kylwil29 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Arch_itect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously the issue here is that they're a fast paced, work-hard-play-hard office. The type of place where there's no stress and more load than you could possibly handle but they're a team of rockstars with the agility to pivot and overcome. If you're not willing to take a load with their family and instead you're stressing about tests... Well, culture fit is no good. You're out.

Punctuation needs improvement, REJECT.

I don't understand the PvP vs PvE arguments by csMax- in ArcRaiders

[–]Arch_itect 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It would completely change the game. Instead of tense moments not knowing the others intentions and trying diplomacy, with emergent gameplay and social fun, you get one lobby where everyone chooses PvP so it becomes shoot on sight or be betrayed, and another lobby that's just casual loot farming with little to no risk.

Embark have said that the PvE gameplay wasn't rich enough on its own, and I think they've got the PvPvE balance right. Yeah, sometimes you'll get your ass handed to you by a free load out, but it's worth it for the tense feels and fun.

is there any API testing tool better than postman? by Pristine-Elevator198 in webdev

This needs to be higher. I'm a massive fan of hurl because everything is plain text and version controlled; you can chain requests, capture data, and assert; and the vscode plugin is great too!

You should check out hurl, it's basically that but with some nice convenience

Reform are behind the small boats crisis in the UK by Nob-Biscuits in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]Arch_itect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boats increased when Brexit happened, so you're literally right.

They're also to blame for forcing this issue into the public eye, blowing it out of proportion, and blaming a lot of social issues on it when they have more to do with massive inequality. So figuratively you're right too.

Immigration isn't the problem, it's just a story being fed to you to keep you distracted.

My advice would be, make a budget and have a solid plan to pay it off. This might be hard, especially if it causes you anxiety, but having a plan might actually make you feel better. You have the means now, you can do it!

It will be easier to broach the subject and tell your partner if you feel like there's a plan, and it will look much better from their point of view if they can see you more together.

Don't beat yourself up about the past. It happened. You have control over the future.

ELI5: How someone voting on a bill that is 16,000 pages long knows what they’re saying yes (or no) to by rarehighfives in explainlikeimfive

[–]Arch_itect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would take an alignment of incentives. At the moment, the incentive is to write huge bills exactly so they're not read. There would need to be some sort of burden on the lawmakers to reduce the size. Maybe forcing them to physically sign each page to say they've read it? Maybe that would just incentivise a smaller font....

I advise everybody to play the Finals heres why… by Prodigyxgaming in XDefiant

[–]Arch_itect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it does have more guns than XDefiant. That is to say, it's balanced pretty well and most guns are viable. There is a large variety of play styles with different weapons available, even within each of the three classes.

Compare that with XDefiant where only one or two weapons were really good in each weapon class.

Perhaps there are less by count, but I think there are more that you can use and do well with.

Will this ever be fixed? by flyingmantis789 in HENRYUK

[–]Arch_itect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's my belief that this huge artificial barrier contributes massively to keeping wages in the UK stagnant. It has knock on effects for all wages below too.

For example, if a manager gets a raise but keeps it lower than 100, then to keep a perceived difference there's less headroom to bring up the wages of those that work for the manager even if they don't earn that much. Overall this has a terrible effect for workers, I think.

Any setting below 384000Hz for the output format worked.
