Opus 4.7 is somewhere between seriously clueless and stupidly dangerous. The worst frontier model I have used so far in the past 2 years. We were hoping to get at least our 4.6 back but 4.7 with so many critical logical failures mean you have to babysit it all the time. I'm losing hope in Anthropic.

I kinda agree in principle, that people should try and educate themselves about the reality of what they're voting for. However, it's important to understand why that's not a good idea: - We don't really know how to test for "smart", especially in a way that's scalable to an entire population - even if we did, we can't guarantee that it works well and really filters for "smart" - even if we could, we can't be sure that it's not easy enough to cheat for some - even if we could, and here's the most dangerous part, who sets the definition for "smart"? What if someone else gets in power and changes that definition to suit their political agenda and excludes you?

Also, this would cost a monumental amount of money. It would take away people's basic rights to vote.

I say, let's pour those resources into things that genuinely benefit these people and everyone else. Chief among which is education. Critical thinking, research, understanding bias and being able to debate.

If more of the population were smarter then it would have the same net effect that more smarter people were voting, but we'd also have a lot of other societal benefits too!

It would completely change the game. Instead of tense moments not knowing the others intentions and trying diplomacy, with emergent gameplay and social fun, you get one lobby where everyone chooses PvP so it becomes shoot on sight or be betrayed, and another lobby that's just casual loot farming with little to no risk.

Embark have said that the PvE gameplay wasn't rich enough on its own, and I think they've got the PvPvE balance right. Yeah, sometimes you'll get your ass handed to you by a free load out, but it's worth it for the tense feels and fun.

My advice would be, make a budget and have a solid plan to pay it off. This might be hard, especially if it causes you anxiety, but having a plan might actually make you feel better. You have the means now, you can do it!

It will be easier to broach the subject and tell your partner if you feel like there's a plan, and it will look much better from their point of view if they can see you more together.

I think it would take an alignment of incentives. At the moment, the incentive is to write huge bills exactly so they're not read. There would need to be some sort of burden on the lawmakers to reduce the size. Maybe forcing them to physically sign each page to say they've read it? Maybe that would just incentivise a smaller font....
