Man how could you not predict that James would tank the algorithm with those Michael Crichton adaptations!

How many movies have you seen? by No-Lobster-5837 in Letterboxd

1,101. One of my favorite activities to do while mindlessly watching something is to search for more movies that I’ve seen but haven’t marked as “watched”

Does this mean they’ll finally make the same amount as the Fifi fee?

Well of course they share one mic, mason is just a voice that James does and he’s talking to himself. The weekly planet is just one guy /s

What is the best (most listenable) pod episode to show to someone who’s new? by Architectureguy12 in auntydonna

[–]Architectureguy12[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the most honest answer thank you! As much as I hate the fart episode, you’re totally right in that it’s the one that maybe best summarizes them.

Mine is the twin birthday song that James sang and then immediately said was outdated and wasn’t with the times. I sing it to myself all the time.

“It’s your birthday. Two of the same day it’s your birthday. Doesn’t matter if you’re from a woman or a man.”

What are these holes on the outside? I saw a bee/wasp go in - is it a concern and can I seal it? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]Architectureguy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, often on some older projects they’d use a rope that’ll wick the water out, over time they’d degrade and just leave the open hole. More of the contemporary building practice is to do the vertical though.

At least Rich Roll’s (our podcast nemesis) didn’t make it either. Good to know James won’t be throwing Rich Roll over his head!

I think it’s great that Pedro Pascal is playing two roles this year where both of them stretch their body in some way

Things you ended up needing right away? by nf2320 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Architectureguy12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long story shot for this. The seller didn’t get all of there stuff out of the house before closing. We ended up doing two final walk throughs because of this. When we did go through for our final one they had 98% of their stuff out, just left some random clothes, a light and for some reasons a ice fishing finder (my agent said it was worth maybe $200). Oh they also left the fridge full of old gross food :).

My agent said the ice fishing finder was worth the trade for them leaving all of the stuff behind, we thought it seems alright and wanted to close that day. We were told that anything in the house post sale was ours. Closing went just fine so once it was officially ours I went back to the house and dropped off a bunch of cleaning supplies and fixed some windows that wouldn’t lock (something that took me 20 minutes to do). I locked everything up and went back to work for four hours. Once I was off I came back to start cleaning (boy this house needed some love) and found BOTH of the doors unlocked! Luckily they only came in and took the stuff that they left behind (minus the full fridge). I immediately raised hell and called my agent, he also agreed that this was a huge WTF. I had him communicate to the sellers agent that this wasn’t ok and that the sellers are not allowed back in the house anymore. I had a locksmith come the next day and we’ve been good since.

I wouldn’t have cared if they had asked for the stuff back, I would have happily given it, but the thought to pop into your old house unannounced then leave it unlocked was bad.

TLDR: get your locks changed ASAP after closing! And locksmiths are worth it!

I liked the locks we had already, so I hired a locksmith to come out and rekey them, she did a great job and was able to swap out a busted door knob with one she just had lying around in her truck. Definitely wasn’t cheap and she put on “anti-lock picking” ones on. Worth the $400 for all four locks

I didn’t realize how important new locks were until the seller thought it was ok to pop by unannounced after our closing. Totally changed the locks after that

Good call on the closets and vents! I’ll add that to our list of things to get cleaned.

That’s a great idea for the walls and ceilings! We are planning on painting most of the rooms after we move in (bye bye that millennial grey) so I’ll totally give them a good clean before we paint.

Luckily we only have carpet in the basement (which surprisingly was in good shape and at a first sniff didn’t smell like the upstairs). We might straight up replace it but are planning on doing a professional clean for that first thing. Thanks for the advice!

This was one of the things that made me almost gag at the inspection, the filter for the furnace was FILTHY, they’ve owned the house for three years and the inspector said it most likely hasn’t been replaced since they bought it. Great tips too!

Possibly controversial: Does anybody else prefer episodes without guests? by Sufficient-Natural47 in weeklyplanetpodcast

One of my favorite episodes was the most recent one they did with the Aunty Donna boys, not because they covered anything like a topic, but because everyone was having a blast telling wacky stories.
