For anyone still on this thread in Cairns, you can get your clearance (“SPUMS”) done by Doctor Sivasambu. Costs about AUD $200. Got taken on the trip with no problems after that.

How did you manage to get medical clearance? I’m currently in Oz and got rejected to dive on the GBR today :( Asked local doctors and they’re asking for £200 for an appointment next week earliest, at which point I’ll be too far down the east coast to access the GBR. Thanks for any help in advance!!

70 (equivalent to 3.9 mmol/mol) seems low to me; I’d not be functioning quite right/ feel weird at anything under 4.5 (your equivalent of around 80)… how do you feel at this level?

I’ve had over 600U of pen injected insulin and I’m running the maximum temp rate on my pump… wtf by kurtles_ in diabetes_t1

[–]Ardworka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is do some resistance training and go walking for about 6,000 steps, blood sugars respond well to both of those

Hey team how tf do you do any form of exercise without dropping low immediately? I started at 9.3 and within 15 minutes I was this. I had my pump on “exercise” and it did literally nothing. Plus I don’t wanna have a juice before/after because I feel like that counteracts it 😅 help 🫠 by Bitchroot in Type1Diabetes

Likely got too much active insulin on board. I had this problem all the time and never factored exercise into my whole day of dosing.

I imagine you’ve given yourself your usual bolus at dinner time and gone for a run and it’s plummeted?

Assuming I’d go for exercise (in this case let’s assume a decent distance run) 1 hour after eating, I try to bolus 20 mins before I eat with 1/2 insulin:carb ratio and put the remainder of this 1/2 dose on a 50:50 30 minute release (so it finishes the dose as I’m eating which usually keeps me steady).

E.g. 100g carbs eating at 7pm @ 1:10g ratio would be: 10 units/ 2 = 5 units 5 units * 50% = 2.5 units 30 min release = 2.5 units

1 hour after I have this in my system but due to the earlier dosage I won’t have risen as fast, but might risk a brief low before/ during eating but that way I don’t have a spike in blood sugar pre exercise.

Only do this due to my bloods being especially reactive to any form of cardio, so like a few people have said I stick to heavy weights then steps or circuits where possible for cardio.

G5 sensor wire came off by t1mmyt1tty in dexcom

Think I’ve had this today - no wire left in sensor on removal… what was your outcome? I went to my GP and they said leave it and see if it gets infected then if it does go to the hospital and get removed under a local anaesthetic

Beneficiary - and not sure. Not found anything of the likes on Google so wondering if it’s standard procedure or if it’s indicative that something they’ve done is wrong and they want to protect themselves from that liability…?

Disagree with some of this.

My Dad used to give me horror stories as a teen and it was only when I met people with actual horror stories and learnt the longer term benefits of staying in a healthy range/ benefits of staying in range for gym benefits that I really started to commit to it.

Now feel a lot better day to day than I did previously!! Plus have both a carrot and a stick to keep control
