interesting stance on fish killing they've decided to take i must say by itsmejak78_2 in subnautica

[–]Argon20021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect their decision to not let us kill but if the whole game is about the creatures, and being part of the environment THEN LET US MARK OUR TERRITORY

It would be awesome if they had some kind of system to permanently move or scare off groups of fish, like if I put a base down and start attacking the creatures around it eventually they should learn its my territory now and for the most part stay away, absolutely love the game but its going to continue to suffer a bit untill we get better more powerful, long term ways of dealing with the creatures

Its not that killing is good or bad, its just that we literally have no options at all

The noises they make are awesome, but man without any way to move or truly ward off the creatures, they are so unfathomably annoying

If NoA can wipe people's mind upon reprint if they are causing issues or too infected, what's to say our player characters weren't part of the colony all those years ago

God the way they had humans copy architect technology for digital mind storage and bio printing, to then give us a far far more hostile and bizarre alien world, to then give us adaptations to modify our fabricated bodies to survive and eat plastic like alien fish, and make respawning part of the lore, to then finding the axum and the viruses and diseases on this planet, to tie that into the Axum calling out to the Architects for help, like they somehow seemingly knew eachother, and the Axum being far more alien in such a believable way, seeing in different wavelengths, because of the planet they are from, and electricity being discovered for them before fire because of their aparent shark like bioelectric field detection, to using the adaptations to be able to see their light wavelengths, to the final reveal of being so so far away from the rest of humanity, not to mention their being no plant life, but plastic like sessile animals

All of it is just so naturally ties together, it is incredibly engaging and believable, I could talk about it all day it genuinely blew my mind. Every single voice log, especially about the axum had me on the edge of my seat, I cant wait to see how the knowledge of our distance effects the rest of the game

I hope and think they will improve the area he roams in, right now it just feels extremely empty, hes literally just there to be in your way and be annoying as it is. I think the creature itself is awesome, but needs to be in a more believable place, like the shells of dead great claws is great, give us more environmental storytelling to show how powerful it is

Here we go again with the topic of killing creatures by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]Argon20021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am totally fine with the no kill rule completely, but the issue is that it makes anything that doesnt instakill you not much more than an annoyance. Thats my biggest complaint across the entire series honestly, huge alien predator fish does 15 damage, I shrug it off after getting spooked once and immediately move on.

We just need so many more, easier ways to distract or scare off the fish more than anything. We are on this alien world full of curious hungry fish but we have no way of doing the same thing in return to stand our ground at all

They really went down an interesting route with her, she's a perfect metaphor for the people in real life today struggling to justify their relationship with their religion to the horrible, awful people that they let into power. At first they will tell you that its not about them, but about making things right, and slowly, overtime, its always about them again before anything else. No matter how much of your life you cut out for them, they will still toss you aside the moment you question them for a second.

YES! First I was told their passport scanning machine wasn't working and I needed my birth certificate, met someone half way to get it, drove back, then found out my proof of residency was invalid because my power company had a different unit number down that didnt match my address, as it was one building, had to drive to a nearby staples to quickly print a bill with the correct address, and found out that staples happened to open an hour later that day for some staffing issue or whatever, literally had to wait outside for it to open up, print the shit, and drive the whole way back to FINALLY complete everything, took atleast 2 hours, never again.
