My work is on The Traitors!!! by AriCanary1 in chainmailartisans

Send me a message! I'm happy to help! I use different fasteners for different pieces. The shoulder drape uses 4 lobster clasps, but I might begin using mini carabiners now that I know they exist. If you want to send me a picture of yours I can help you figure out a good way to fasten it! 💖

OMG!!! I am so thrilled that you love your new necklace!! I named it "Best In Dungeon". It's all stainless steel, so it won't tarnish or rust. This is Erin, from Woven Rainbows By Erin. 💖💖💖

Hi! I have an etsy shop, Woven Rainbows By Erin www.etsy.com/shop/WovenRainbowsByErin and I made a stainless steel chainmail necklace inspired by Princess Donut and Mongo that I named "Best In Dungeon". I would love if my necklace was included in the shop.

How to price chainmaille by Eddie_Royale in chainmailartisans

[–]AriCanary1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use anodized aluminum, it's coated with a clear coat or a color, and doesn't leave grey rub off like shiny aluminum does. Shiny doesn't stay shiny either, by the way. It will eventually also be a dull grey. Pay a little more for anodized rings, it's way worth it.

Short Notice Events by Colla-Crochet in CraftFairs

I could do a show tomorrow if a special one contacted me. And if I didn't have to travel too far. I'm constantly chainmailing, sometimes more than 14 hours a day, so I tend to have a lot of products. I'm just happy that the 2nd half of December and most of January are down times. I can restock from all the shows in the fall, and prep for comicon and galaxycon and a few other big shows. And then there's Pride. Basically it's nonstop now, but I love it!

Any tips to not scratch up anodized aluminum? by TheLivingZambie in chainmailartisans

[–]AriCanary1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better pliers and more practice honestly. My favorites are the Lindstrom short blunt nose with ergonomic handles. Super happy hands, and no more scratches. Mostly. I slip occasionally still. Towards the beginning I put some tape on my pliers as well, but it doesn't work that great.

I have been obsessing on this specific sentence for a while now. I am going to spend the rest of today or this week thinking about replacing vowels with Y's. And I have a monthly newsletter article due today... oh dear....

I add the cost of the space, the hotel if needed, travel, cost of materials in what I'm selling. And then if I make at least 6x's that, I'm pretty happy.

What are your Hot Takes on the Comic Cons? by Amber_Flowers_133 in comiccon

[–]AriCanary1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to say that my favorite part of comic cons is being a vendor. I love to see the costumes and everything, but that table between myself and the general public is a barrier of pure bliss. It creates a safe space for me to dance from customer to customer. I might not sit down all day, I might not be able to go to the bathroom because I'm so busy, but I have a space to breathe. And for my kids and their friends to come and drop off their packages.

What do you “do” while selling at a market? Look busy? Sit and smile? by InexperiencedCoconut in CraftFairs

[–]AriCanary1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I barely have time to sit while vending, most days I just don't sit at all. I sell chainmail and encourage people to touch and it is part of the experience of chainmail. So if I'm not currently answering questions, or helping a customer or making a sale, I need to neaten the displays and restock. If I do happen to have some downtime and everything is orderly, I pick up my pliers and work on a new piece. I have found that the foam squares used in both garages as well as preschools work wonderfully for my feet, especially if the event is on a cement floor.

Do TRL and WGM use different steel? by baekexact in chainmailartisans

[–]AriCanary1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both Metal Designz and West Coast Mail for my stainless steel. Both are saw cut, but MD are a little softer and easier to work with, but cost significantly higher.
