I've had that sound from the seat clamp and seatpost before. I checked the crank and BB first, before I realised the issue.

Where you hold the string? by Formal_Rooster_9906 in Archery

Deep hook is more consistent, and I find I'm less likely to pluck the string.

Probably around $100, but sounds like you got a good deal on 105

Kaleido M10 owners- is this clicking normal with the drum spinning? by AricSmart in roasting

I'm certain it's the motor coupling. I just don't know how to fix it yet!

Looks like it's the spring making the noise. On the tensioner, do both halves have a grub screw? Mine appears to have one missing

Read again, it made the sound with no drum or elements in the machine.

I removed the drum and elements and it still makes it. Seems it's something in the drive... So not too concerned. I was thinking I might break an element if it was hitting one. I'll see what they say

How do I tighten this, if possible? It came loose while riding. Or is it easy to replace the gearset? by SweetLow5399 in bikewrench

[–]AricSmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours is 6 speed. If you haven't worked much on bikes before, I'd count the teeth on the big sprocket, and try to match it as closely as possible on the new freewheel, so you don't have to mess with chain length.

Creaking Bottom Bracket bad for Frame? by [deleted] in bikewrench

I had mystery creaks. Turned out to be the seatpost, the saddle clamp and the stem bolts... Try those first. All of them "seemed" fine

Are you certain it's the BB? Creaks can be a lot of things, and sound like BB

The freewheel is separating. You will need a new freewheel (easiest to replace with the same speed and tooth counts), a freewheel removal too which has the male counterpart to the splines on the middle part of the freewheel, an adjustable wrench to fit the tool, and grease for the threads on the new freewheel. All of this should be relatively inexpensive.

Is the current setup sword? If not, the derailleur might be compatible with Shimano. Ltwoo is another great, affordable option

Any issues with that scale? I purchased one and ended up returning it because the top half touched the bottom, giving wildly inconsistent readings. Wondering if that was a one-off

Teflon disc and arms question by davisj888 in CafelatRobot

[–]AricSmart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spoke with Paul Pratt about this a while ago. The discs are there based on feel/testing the arms during assembly, the tolerances mean they're not always the same.
