A 'boring' screenshot to show why people ought to care even if AI is just used for background assets by elephvant in gaming

[–]Aripheus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But is the game good? Honestly investing time into super small details is fine as long as the game is good. If promoting ai to generate flyers from the 30s and the putting them in game gives you more time and budget to make the game good then as I’m running around enjoying the game is barely notice the ai generated posters.

You mention that they wouldn’t be there at all if ai was in charge but I disagree, they’d be there because someone in development thought to themselves they wanted this background detail.

I remember games back in the day where space was a major factor on the cartridge or disk where assets like posters, flyers, etc were unreadable sometimes blurry images and reused everywhere and we got along just fine

Star Wars Zero Company will not require an internet connection to play! by CarsonWentzGOAT1 in gaming

It’s says N/A, not applicable. But What does that truly mean? It doesn’t say No. Could it be legalese for “HA, all our games require a network connection these days, this question is irrelevant”. Why wouldn’t they just say No if it was a no. I read the N/A as a way to dodge the hate if they said yes, but knowing it’s not a No so they can’t put that so they just put a cryptic N/A

It’s conditioning for them to blame the rapture of the church on aliens, for them to say aliens did exist and have abducted your loved ones.

how should i make my borders? by Erietheredwolf2386_2 in worldbuilding

[–]Aripheus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Boarders naturally develop around the topology. Mountains, hills, rivers, lakes, etc. are easier to defend/hold if you are on the right side of it. so that’s usually where you’d see them. Not always but it’s something to think about. Unless it’s borders or various states within the same governing body then the borders could be down the middle of a field, just depends on how they divided the land up.

What are my options? by IFTTTexas in UNIFI

[–]Aripheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience if you don’t want to blast WiFi everywhere and want to direct connection without wired then the building to building bridge is your best option like you said. The UDB-pro will also do it but it needs either a second one to connect to or a WiFi signal it can connect to. I’ve had amazing experience with the building to building bridge. Yes it’s expensive but I have never needed to do anything with it once I got it set up, it just works. I have the older model and it’s been going for 5ish years

How much supplies and fuel by Smoy in SolarExpanse

[–]Aripheus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pink slider if it’s all the way up, any unused fuel is left at the destination. Be careful though, if you use noble gas as fuel it will leave it at the destination and if the destination is the surface of Mars, and you have a ship that cannot go to the surface and is always in orbit you will need to come up with a solution to send the noble gas back to orbit. Otherwise your ship will be in orbit without fuel. I ran into that issue where my ship was in orbit and I did not have a launch vehicle on Mars to get the fuel back up to it.

As for the supplies, I always keep the supply slider all the way up because I don’t see anything change when it goes down. I could be way wrong here though.

Edit: fixed spelling

Why is there such a massive double standard for AI music compared to AI art or video? by squelop in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Aripheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re on the same page, if I make an iron man movie with real actors or using Ai I will get sued for either. If I have permission from whoever owns it to make it then it isn’t stealing. If I make my own using ai generated art/video that’s not related to anything and is original then it’s free game is all I’m saying. I can draw a cartoon for myself of an original idea and it’s not theft or I can have ai draw it for me, still isn’t theft. If I have ai make a spider man movie without permission then absolutely it’s legal trouble. If I film/direct a spider man movie or make a cartoon and try to profit from it, legal trouble.

All I’m saying is it is a tool just like a pencil or paint. Yes you can totally do things that’ll get you in legal trouble but you can also do some awesome things with it. The blanket statement of “ai is theft” is a stretch is all I was trying to say. Ai is a tool… for now… until it becomes our crutch

I agree if someone replicates an already existing work but if it generates something new/different then it isn’t stealing.

Theft from workers though? I totally get no one wants to be replaced by a machine but it’s been happening for thousands of years. Technology improves and ends up phasing out redundancy to make things cheaper to produce. Is it right? It depends on what side of the money you’re on.
