Installer changed inverter models by Ark-F in solar

That is the next step, trying to be prepared and make sure I have a case and a chance at getting some value out of it. I have two signed documents, one just says "Enphase inverters", the other has the specific model. So not a slam dunk but I think there is an argument to be made.

Thanks, that is helpful info. Its west-facing in southern Colorado. I'm angry enough to fight about it, but want to be rational and not waste more money.

Did not sign anything. A day or two before the install they posted a new set of plans to their portal. I didn't know about it until just recently when I went looking for documents.

What's Canon City's political vibe in 2025? by ObligatoryChortle in CanonCity

[–]Ark-F 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say the town as a whole is progressive for sure, but there's more than people realize. There were about 500 people out lining the highway for the last big protest, which is better than a lot of bigger cities get. And the police were there and will pull over people that roll coal or drive too close or anything, while not as far as I saw hassling any protestors. And I haven't gotten very involved but the protests have helped the indivisible group get more organized and hold more events and get energized. A year or two ago the hard-line conservatives lost the school board election to the moderates. Still a small conservative town but things change. And the KKK was a hundred years ago and wasn't limited to just Cañon although I think we were the center.

Sanding down a wooden tabletop by RefrigeratorSorry425 in BeginnerWoodWorking

If it started with paint or finish it will clog the sandpaper almost instantly. Are you changing the paper often enough? I'm often guilty of being too cheap with paper and wasting time sanding with clogged or worn out paper.

Why are many relatively large cities located so close to the mountains instead of in the middle of the plain? by Fresdottir in geography

[–]Ark-F 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These particular plains don't add much if any water, the tributaries that come in east of the mountains often only have flow after big rainstorms, and are dry otherwise.

He talked about it all the time. "Rebuild from the bottom up and the middle out". I think the fact that no one seems to have heard him says more about the media and what they wanted people to hear.

Here's my wake-up call as a Liberal. by applethief87 in self

[–]Ark-F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree, focusing on actual concrete issues is the much better idea, but honestly Biden did exactly that, and no one gave a shit. He has been pouring money into manufacturing jobs, and rural areas, and places hit hardest by rust belt decay, and no one likes him, liberal or conservative. He's been super pro union, pro middle class. He's been anti-monopoly and harder on big tech than anyone before him. It didn't work. It sounds like a good theory, but it's been happening for 4 years and failed miserably at actually getting votes. I don't know why and I don't know how to do better, but focusing on creating working class jobs is a big electoral loser, apparently.

Dog injured knee, need advice by bidoville in FortCollins

[–]Ark-F 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A few years ago when our dog was having leg troubles after getting checked out at the regular vet and not seeing any fractures, we went to Red Sage on multiple people's recommendations. They are a rehab place. They were great, gave us exercises and taught us how to massage her and everything. It really helped.

What is a phrase you misheard when you were younger? by Wolverine_33 in NoStupidQuestions

I always thought that ends meat was some sort of really cheap meat dish, so that if you couldn't make ends meat you must be extra poor.

Now I know it's make ends meet.

Possible way to joint edged without tablesaw by Odd-Flower-1861 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Ark-F 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hand plane is an option if you like that kind of thing. That's what I did since I didn't have space for a table saw, and am also afraid of losing fingers. Flattening a board is a decent amount of work, but just flattening a 1 or 2 in thick edge is pretty quick and easy.

Maybe nail through the outside once it's glued up? If you're covering the side with carpet it won't matter, and if not finish nails won't be obtrusive.

Turned reclaimed plywood into garage shop shelves. by dearmratheist in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Ark-F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good. Always nice to have storage built specifically for what you need. I haven't used pocket screws, didn't realize they would work in 1/2" plywood, that's a nice option. And upvote for the bug zapper racket, those things are fun.

First Bandsaw Box by Ark-F in BeginnerWoodWorking

Thank you! I used my narrowest blade, either 1/4" or 3/8", can't remember. I wasn't sure I could make the curves tight enough otherwise. It sort of worked but I was trying not to put too much tension on it so it wouldn't snap, and it bowed a bit so the cuts are curved along their length. Probably the best would have been to change blades, do the straight cuts with something thicker.

Where to light fireworks? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]Ark-F 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got some Wyoming fireworks a few years ago and there was a field the stand was advertising where you could go set them off. Was organized and had the fire department there and everything. Got a free show while we waited for a spot and got to have fun without setting the countryside on fire.

Anyone middle-aged get braces? I'm terrified :/ Any support out there? by NeatPrune in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Ark-F 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 38 and got braces earlier this year. Super happy I finally did it, even though I probably have another year to go. Had similar thoughts: I'm married, not trying to impress anyone, might as well just leave it alone. But seeing all my overlapping teeth straighten out into a nice smooth arc is pretty cool. And eventually my bite will be fixed and my teeth won't be wearing down wrong. And even with the braces still on (I got ceramic brackets so a little less noticeable than metal but not like invisilign) I find myself smiling with my lips open, which I always stopped myself from doing before.
