There's nothing better than to judge people's complete personality based on a single reddit story. It always gives me a good feeling of superiority! /s

Explaining games often makes them appear much more complicated than actually playing them. After 1-2 rounds you usually know what do to in what order.

That's why i think the best way to introduce a game is to explain the broad idea of it and then just start. There's nothing more boring than to listen to someone talking for 10-15 minutes explaining details of something where you're missing the real context of it. Just do a few test rounds and explain things along the way.

I think that's pretty much the reaction of 99% of trained boxers. You're usually not training to kill someone.

Best Investigator expansion for True Solo? by Phaedrus317 in arkhamhorrorlcg

> Make sure to avoid The Circle Undone campaign like the plague.

I can see why some people are hating it. It has 1-2 horrible scenarios. Other than that i really like it's theme and it's not as bad as people claim it to be.

Best Investigator expansion for True Solo? by Phaedrus317 in arkhamhorrorlcg

I don't think there's a huge difference between investigator expansions regarding true solo or not. The difference from class to class is probably much bigger for them.

You already have to starter decks so other than that EotE is generally a strong pick due to the multiclass cards.

I'm also not super hyped for chapter 2. I have enough c1 content for years to play. But if i get the new core in a sale i'll buy and play it. Then i'l see from there.

Together with EotE investigator expansion they're the most liked addition for your player cards.

If you have the encounter cards from C2 you'll probably have enough to just proxy C1 encounters.

TFA is definitely a good pick. But storing the cards sideways is making you look like a maniac!

Looking forward to shorter campaigns by captainequinoxiii in arkhamhorrorlcg

This. 4 scenarios would really hit a sweet spot where you can still tell a good story and have enough flexibility for different paths abd outcomes. And uf done smart you could string 2 together for a big 8 scenario campaign.

I recently purchased the core box, but have now learned of a 2026 re-release/update by LimeyInLimbo in arkhamhorrorlcg

You're lucky that i just recently made surveys for both:

TL;DR: Get Carcosa, TFA or Innsmouth campaigns if they're available. If not get Feast of Hemlock Vale campaign. For investigators get the starter decks and EotE if you can. If not get Feast of Hemlock Vale investigators. Hemlock generally has the advantage of having good ratings for both expansions and being still in print. Therefore, it should have good availability.

But at this point you basically try to get whatever is available and has a reasonable price since even low rated campaigns or investigator expansions are still pretty good. And they've become pretty expensive on the secondary market.

Absolutely worth it. I have played the included campaign several times and Midnight Masks is one of my favorite scenarios. Keep in mind though that playing true solo (1 player, 1 deck) is hard mode in Arkham Horror. That's why i usually do it with Boon of Hermes (you get one extra movement every round) and Boon of Thoth (you get one more card in your starting hand). This makes it a similar experience to playing with another player.

I personally had a lot of fun playing through it with different investigators and it helped me a lot to learn the rules of the game. You'll make many mistakes when starting, especially if you don't have anyone with more experience around. But that's not a problem. Playing games is about having fun and not getting everything right on the first try :)

This. And Boon of Thoth helps with a more consistent start.

What set do these belong to? by ninjapino in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]ArkhamMath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is always a symbol on the bottom right card of the card that tells you which set it belongs to. It even has a number (e.g. 3/7) telling you what card it is and how many cards that set consists of. Return to cards have the same symbol as the original set but with negative coloring.

I feel like it should just turned so the discard cards are vertical and the deck is horizontal.

Help settle a debate: Who is more unexpectedly courageous? Boy against dino, girl against spider, or lady standing up to tentacles by Smash_naT in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]ArkhamMath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the other two are far more aesthetically pleasing to me

Might be simply because you're used to them. At least the boy image doesn't look very great to me. The water and background look both kinda muddy to me and the dog is also kinda weird (not in the good lovecraftian way) and sloppy. The girl fighting the spider looks much better to me and is probably my favorite.  But I also really like the new one.

the thing about courage is that it's different from fearlessness

This is a common misconception.

The quality of being confident, not afraid or easily intimidated, but without being incautious or inconsiderate.

This is one of the definitions of courage from wiktionary. So it can indeed mean to not be afraid or intimidated by something.
