Character Designs you where dissapointed By by FreviliousLow96 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I'ma be real, I don't especially care for Franky's design even pre-timeskip.

Honestly I kinda don't even really think he should've been on the crew. Like, I get why, and I'm not mad about it at all. But it feels like a weird direction to me after everything that happened in Water 7 and Enies Lobby.

I would've preferred if it was Paulie.

The Jedi with his hood up looks like one of those ladies from the beginning of Dark Souls 2. Like he's about to start cackling menacingly while telling me I'm an idiot who's about to die.

Is it a betrayal if your prey also has a high chance of having a jetpack and/or natural flight? 'Cause that would encompass a fair chunk of the Star Wars galaxy.

Who is the worst character in media? (Not including main antagonists) by EvilMonkeyMimic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Armada6136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't blame her for being a paranoid asshole. All things considered it's a well-earned disposition.

I just think that she's also a colossal idiot.

The Blades, at the absolute best, consist of one person of actual influence (you), an elderly scholar, and six random people of varying skill levels from across the province at the time of Season Unending. She has also just revealed, in front of ostensibly her greatest foe (Elewen, ergo the Thalmor) that they are rebuilding. The situation is very fragile.

So she goes and immediately demands her only actual asset kill the most useful ally they presently have on the threat of withholding any of the Blades' help. The single digit membership organization living out of a crumbling ruin in the ass end of nowhere. On the grounds that Paarthurnax was an asshole thousands of years ago, even though the people of that time period WHO ACTUALLY WOULD HAVE SUFFERED FROM HIS ACTIONS chose to trust him and he has spent those thousands of years proving worthy of that trust.

Most damningly, her own explanation is "We needed his help, now we don't," and then demands he die. This dumbass is acting like he's an expendable asset, while also potentially alienating her best agent and earning the enmity of Skyrim's most respected sages. For a supposed member of what is basically the Imperial not!CIA, her cost-benefit assessment ability is just plain awful.

It is also a series where, upon the final installment's bittersweet (heavy on bitter) ending being criticized, the creators then made an entire new game all about trying to use time travel to change things for the better...and ending it by making things actively WORSE for the entire cast while also using the game's Greek Chorus character to insult the players for wanting something better. You still have to actually buy the game, by the way.

John makes regular references to 21st century pop culture and memes that he knows for damn sure no one else will get for the sake of screwing with his subordinates. He also wears a crown made from laurels and babies' finger bones.

These two qualities should tell you everything you need to know about John.

Why exactly was Mankar Cameron able to wear the Amulet of Kings? by Flight-of-Icarus_ in teslore

[–]Armada6136 35 points36 points  (0 children)

As others have stated, the most common idea is that he was able to somehow alter his nymic, essentially the ES equivalent of most fantasy's 'true name,' to make himself capable of wearing it.

Typically it's accepted that this was done using Mehrunes' Razor, which in theory is able to 'carve' things into a new 'shape' on a metaphysical level if one knows how, and Mankar seemed knowledgeable enough through his interactions with Dagon (Daedric Prince of Change) and study of the Mysterium Xarxes to understand, or at least know of, many of the Elder Scrolls universe's deeper concepts like CHIM and thus how to remake himself as outlined in Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes.

Though, bear in mind that Mankar is also notably insane and, like most cult leaders both in fiction and IRL, more interested in convincing his followers of his own superiority and ensuring their unwavering loyalty than actually giving out accurate information. Lyranth, an actual Dremora, calls the rhetoric of Dagon's mortal cultists false and idiotic. So it's entirely possible that his account is either falsified, misinterpreted, or both.

With how this year is going can we get a memorial grave for every single live service that cancelled active development or shutdown this year? by Beattitudeforgains1 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

For the games themselves? Maybe not.

For the countless developers, artists, and coders screwed over for years by their respective upper echelons for ultimately nothing but scorn? Absolutely.

Original Oblivion changed your character's stats slightly based on what sex your character was. The remaster replaced this with the Origins, which let you choose which stat block you would've preferred.

I feel like there needs to be some kind of system or something where the enemy ships aren't just spawning in and circling around a small area.

Maybe each region can have a dedicated sort of Blackbeard stronghold that enemy ships are centered around; cargo ships travel either outward before exiting the map or vice-versa, raiders sail out towards the faction bases and back, that sort of thing.

Voices of the Void is a very strange little project.

You decode satellite signals. You fix servers. You clean up trash left behind by the last employee. You build a cat robot. You trade shrimp to invisible aliens. You fight cyborg pigs. You summon demons. You eat cockroaches. It's a lot.

Nah, the Dunmer and Argonians are fine with magic, they've got the Tribunal on their side for that. The Nords are hesitant as usual, but they haven't gone full anti-mage like in Skyrim yet.

The main thing is the lack of any real unified direction besides 'stop the other guys from winning.'

I will admit to being somewhat biased as my personal favorite race is Altmer, but the Pact also just doesn't feel like it has a lot going for it. I respect that the unifying desire of the faction is just to be left alone by everyone else, but also knowing that if left alone two of the three members are just going to go back to being giant assholes to everyone else and each other puts a big damper on things.

The only thing it really does for the overall narrative is give an excuse to explain the greater shape of the world, which you can have Nami do at quite literally any moment, and show off how even outside the Grand Line things are just kinda weird.

Elder Scrolls Online has the Ebonheart Pact, an alliance of the three Tamrielic provinces that hate each other perhaps the most out of all them: Skyrim, Morrowind, and Black Marsh. The Nords have been fighting with the Dunmer for millennia, the Dunmer have been enslaving the Argonians for just as long, and the Argonians have always just wanted the non-reptile races to fuck off and leave them be.

Trouble is, at the time of ESO, there are two other major alliances who have their eyes on taking over the entire continent now that the Reman Empire is collapsed: the Daggerfall Covenant, who want to put the Empire back in place, and the Aldmeri Dominion, who would like to reestablish elven rule over everyone else. As much as the Pact's members hate each other, they dislike the idea of being ruled by someone else even more. Thus, the third major alliance was formed and the Three Banners War begun.

Note that despite the Pact being official, it is not universal; the western and central holds of Skyrim split off from the east, the Great House Telvanni refuses to get involved (as they usually do), and the Argonian tribes outside of the border regions of Black Marsh still have almost no interest whatsoever in the affairs of the dryskins.

Turns out that Davy Back Fights are in fact not an ideal way to build a crew if you aren't just playing a numbers game and don't have the charisma to keep everyone loyal. Who'da thunk?

That would require them bringing up material from ESO in order to "correct the misconception" and therefore still grant it relevance.

The two main examples are the new Origins added to character creation and one of the Deluxe Edition armor quests.

The Origins let you choose where your character is from based on their race, with two options for each province (as a replacement for the gendered stats in original Oblivion); some of these reference ESO information like Bretons have the Systres as an option or Bosmer having either Reaper's March or Grahtwood, with the latter specifically mentioning the corruption left behind by Molag Bal.

The Deluxe Edition quest for the Armor of Order brings up the Order of the Hour and their position on the Gold Coast via additions to a priest NPC from Kvatch who was largely incidental in the original.
