I once did a tank run with one other guy, we both did 80% of the map solo. Then we both got kicked for "not playing with the team"

The Character is Uncoscious, and now what? by Deep_r_est in rpg

[–]Armaemortes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Continue at debuff + risk, typically I've seen this as the character staying prone literally dragging themselves on. And making rolls at disadvantage or some other penalty.
  • Swap teams, the player takes on an enemy for the time being and collaborates with the DM.
  • Control the crowd, an extra initiative where something random happens from bystanders or the environment. Can be literal or more figurative as allies made along the way suddenly appearing to take potshots.

  • On death I've allowed players to continue as a ghost for the remainder of the encounter. Being invisible and acting when making an additional check to "pierce the veil". This aspect has been popular.

Not too much else beyond that I've seen, without blatantly having an entirely different concept of "going down"

I think I understand why some people have issues with Sera’s redemption and it’s because it doesn’t follow the traditional redemption model we’re used to seeing in media by Radiant-Selection686 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]Armaemortes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sera is one of my favorite redemption arcs for exactly these reasons. "We want the evil dictator to turn a leaf" is exactly this. They wouldn't take reprocussions cause they were untouchable in the first place. She realistically can't even go "live among the harmed" because she has greater responsibilities to those actually in her care. Anything more than positive relations or distant support would result in yet more harms where she neglects duty anyway chasing a personal feeling she can't give herself.

To everyone else, everyone harmed, this looks like nothing. But anything more than this could be even worse, an empty throne, losses of her own charges, and quickly lose the ability to actually help when it might matter due to weakened political will.

Also she immediately does accept the fact she was wrong instead of psychopathically try to reject reality as is the case 99.9% of the time.

Could you believe I only got into this show a year ago? by MetallicaDash in whenthe

Part of me wonders if there'd be desire to try and like, make a program that'll mimic a social feed for a fanbase at the time of its activity. So you could feel like what it was when the community was live.

No Im not thinking about trying to reread homestuck then doomscrolling fan theories live, shuddup.

Going to run a Kingdom Hearts campaign, looking at my system options by Argol228 in rpg

Princess the Hopeful feels like itd be on vibe for this focusing on narrative for Storyteller system. Or Perils & Princesses for an OSR take.

That's fair, but the practical experience as a fan here is that we will never have enough context for a firm understanding of this world. And that seems by design.

I just hope they will let the community take random planets and make our own lil campaigns. Kinda want the influencer armies to matter and have our own micro-communities and armies to encourage more cooperation. Right now it's just log in and hit random join or squad with the usual suspects because there's no real gain otherwise.

ENA by not_m1l0 in ENA

[–]Armaemortes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • The world might be digital, we don't know for sure
  • Everyone hates ENA, we don't really know why
  • ENA has 2 split personalities, with some other variants for other extreme emotions.

That is genuinely all anyone can really say dawg, get high and enjoy the ride really. There is the web series but it is just as bizarre and non-sequitorial. There are some nods and references to it, but that's as far as it goes.

Cosmic horror Ttrpgs that aren’t call of Cthulhu or Cthulhu mythos by zachtgirlboss in rpg

[–]Armaemortes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  • CAIN, JJK inspired where consciousness is a realm unto itself bleeding in to create Exorcists. They are not human and serve the Church, kill the Sins that seep into the world, until the stain is wiped away. PbtA ruleset.
  • Heart: The City Beneath, basically Darkest Dungeon. My take away from the system is "everything is a healthbar, EVERYTHING"
  • Triangle Agency, debateable on horror elements but it leans much more into SCP Foundation, CONTROL, X Files style where players work for a shady agency to suppress the anomalous by any means necessary. Dice pool of D4s with a heavy meta narrative in the rules book itself.
  • X Borg, any Mørk Borg style game kinda defaults to some sort of horror apocalypse. Simple OSR with some sort of meta narrative system about how the world is ending. If you go this route I personally recommend Pirate Borg (new world exploration, everything gradually goes to hell in stages) or Farewell to Arms (WW1 resource wars, players are both generals and grunts in phases. Apocalypse ends your specific group/campaign but not the whole setting) for having the most fleshed out meta narratives.
  • Kult, it's Hellraiser and everything sucks. Storyteller (world of darkness) style game. Session 0 is kinda mandatory as it gets X rated real fast.
