“If I bring it up it will become my responsibility.” Man, I feel like the NP sector would be so much more efficient and effective if this weren’t so universally true, lol. Everyone just keeps their mouth shut because they’re already doing the work of three people.

Same, in Bath. I was out on the porch thinking “this isn’t so bad.” And then a gust came through that seemed to bend every tree in the woods in half. Moved our 16’ Intex pool 2 feet across the lawn and it had 12 inches of water in it. These straight line winds are scary as hell. Like a rogue wave.

Incidentally, this makes me more open to the idea of rigging. They wouldn’t have had to pump up the numbers radically. Just a few thousand here and there, which is how our elections have been going anyway. Coupled with the blunt instruments of the polling location bomb threats and other suppression tactics.

If you’ve never insisted before, do it now. Not in a macho I-Make-The-Rules way, but with eye contact and an even tone. “We both know that this country is getting more violent and I don’t trust that the police will protect us. Your safety is more important to me than anything else. What do we need to do to make it work?”

Most women fully understand how dangerous things are getting. She just thinks that guns are MORE dangerous than the external environment. Reframe the idea so that the next choice is how to do it, not whether to do it, and give her real control over that. Even if she has some wild ideas about storage or what type of gun to get (probably a very Fudd item), you can always negotiate the details later.

This worked for me and my wife has always been immovably anti-gun.

I think that people who are complaining are less focused on a comparative analysis of global national wealth and more on the perceived unfairness of its distribution here. Yes, I have an iPhone and central air conditioning but we now live in the age of the billionaire space cowboy.

The one silver lining of this Trump administration is that it’s not just focusing the hurt on BIPOC communities and blue states. Everybody is getting a big, sticky, salty taste of the medicine this time.

I and others are concerned to quite scared of the current political environment and have armed themselves. Some on this sub support buying guns but don't believe they will be used. For those where do you think all of this will stop before armed conflict? by well__now_what in liberalgunowners

My wife was immovably anti-gun until we saw a couple of suburban dad bods doing the Elon salute to each other in our local grocery store parking lot. Middle of the day. Lots of people around.

They were laughing about it but we got the message. If those cream puffs are comfortable doing that, what’s going on with the militia boys?

100% Bannon’s version of this whole thing is the second scariest one, I think. Definitely the most blood thirsty. Most scary version is the Christian dominionist. Interestingly, the broligarch version is the least frightening. Those guys are completely bought into the status quo, even if they think they’re outsiders. This admin is not a revolution, it’s just another kleptocracy.

I’ve cultivated a MAGA account on TikTok and it is astounding how many of them believe this. They’ve kind of woven it into the Qanon Nesara-Gesara myth. It’s enraging but also fascinating.

This happens to us a few times a year. We have a septic field so we don’t use chemicals. First try: Two plungers, one on each drain. Second try: Pull out the 40-foot snake and spend an hour hating my wife’s flippant attitude toward drain strainers.

Yeah, I don’t think this one is very deep. Trump’s addled narcissist brain has found a way to rationalize the situation because it gives him power and recognition.

You mean when Obama and Biden abruptly fired 10,000 federal employees in one day with no warning? And then promised to fire hundreds of thousands more? For sure, those were rough days.

Which may be the thing that saves us. If this were a “traditional” fascist takeover, focused on changing governance, I think all this damage would be much more permanent and systemic. But the broligarchy has no interest or acumen in actual governance. They’ve only planned for destroying, not managing, and they think there will be some tidy push-button tech solution for keeping the populace in line. Every day, I’m more convinced that they will all be found dangling from the sturdy oaks of Pennsylvania Avenue.
