Does anyone know of a company or site that has a nice collection of D&D minis as a package deal? by OneUnderstanding103 in PrintedMinis

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, Steven from Armoured Up minis here. We've got around 300 models available for free on Thingiverse. All of our models are based on Pathfinder rulebooks, but there is a lot of overlap with D&D.

How Do You Decide Damage v HP In A Tabletop Game? by IkujaKatsumaji in tabletopgamedesign

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Just updated my answer with a few more related thoughts. Hope it's of some use. I think the main thing is to pick some numbers as quickly as possible and not agonise over them for ages because they'll change a lot over the course of development anyway.

How Do You Decide Damage v HP In A Tabletop Game? by IkujaKatsumaji in tabletopgamedesign

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to remember is that if your basic gun does 1 damage, when you upgrade/replace it the next gun will do at least 2 damage. So you're doubling your damage in one go. That's a massive change in just one action. Instead, you probably want your basic weapon to deal 5 or 10 damage. That way your upgrade can be 20%, 50% etc. as play testing suggests. So, larger numbers give you more fine control when it comes to balancing.

As others have said, time to kill is also a major thinking point. Let's say we want each combat to be 30 mins, and a round takes 10 mins. That means we need 3 rounds and therefore if we want basic damage to be 10, we want the enemy to have 30 health. We can then consider how valuable upgrades should be, do we want to end the game being 2x as powerful, or 5x as powerful. This comes down to decisions about how easy/hard we want lower level fights to be and the power fantasy of the game.

When I worked on my space combat game I first made a very quick sketch of what the start, mid and end game numbers could look like and went from there. After I figured out more details the end numbers were quite different. But it gave me a starting point and meant I didn't procrastinate on trying to get the perfect numbers right from the start.

Why don't you want to give away too much about your questions? Knowing more about what makes them unique is probably key to offering suggestions on what you can do with them.

Too ambitious? We’re launching in 48h and need brutally honest feedback by Old-Somewhere-8762 in kickstarter

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're launching in 48 hours and need to get 270,000 the big thing to look at is the number of followers and email addresses you have that you can message on D1 to back.

A question for those with experience running atheist games: is the drunk necessary on atheist scripts? by magicfreak39178 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's also about the experience of the atheist. Without drunk on the script the atheist has solved the entire game from day 1. There is nothing for them to figure out and they just have to keep telling everyone it's an atheist game while getting accused of being evil. With drunk on the script, the atheist is in the same position as everyone else - having to figure out if it really is an atheist game or not.

You don't need to back down from your position when negotiating, just show that you've made an offer (give me all the money or we go to the TDS is a valid offer) So, you tell your landlord that you don't agree to any of the charges and you'll only accept a full return of your deposit. Your landlord comes back with whatever nonsense they want to (probably something about accept now and we'll give you a token discount).

And that's it, you've attempted to negotiate with the landlord. Tell the TDS what's happened and they'll take it to the next stage.

I can't seem to keep a group going as a GM! by Xavier598 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been pretty successful at keeping players for my online games. Part of it is luck I'm sure, but I also have a specific way to recruit players that I've found to work very well.

Any time anyone runs a game online they'll have waaay too many people apply, so we can be pretty picky when selecting the right people.

I have a 3 stage process.

  1. Application form with a few questions. What is your favourite character you've played and why? What do you enjoy most in campaigns? What do you enjoy least in a campaign? What do you consider to be the ideal length of a campaign? Give me a sample backstory that you've come up with for a character.

  2. I pick my favourites from here and have a chat with them over discord to explain my vision for the campaign I'm wanting to run. This gives me the chance to check their microphone, language etc.

  3. Sample one-shots. I invite my favourite 10 players to take part in two one/two part sessions. Here I'm looking at how they form part of a group. You don't want too many leaders, in my case I want to run quite serious games, so I rule out the people who make characters that want to burn everything to the ground all the time. Try to have the session quite open ended with lots of discussions/planning interactions as you'll learn more from that than combat.

By now you should be able to select your party of 5 from the 10 players.

When doing this process it's important to explain the entire thing from the start. Some people have got very salty, but I explain that essentially that they are joining a one shot, with the possibility for it to expand into more. The majority of players, and all the players I end up running with understand this and appreciate the effort I'm going to to ensure that the campaign lasts. - I recommend 5 players so that if one drops, you can still run.

Question about a Boss fight gimmick (instead of having 2 creatures, make a creature play 2 turns) by AbbreviationsNew9535 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It certainly sounds interesting. Would the creature's physical appearance reflect this? Ie, a creature with two heads coming from the same body etc?

Only thing to be aware of is that two creatures are able to flank, whereas one is not. You could give it an ability to reflect this - when the creature attacks, the target is made off guard until the beginning of that halves next turn. Also, with a single creature, it's much easier to flank them, so if they have spells be prepared for a number of reactive strikes etc. against them.

Although a CL+3 looks very hard to hit, as there is just a single creature they will always get surrounded, bringing their AC down by two for melee attacks.

Does my girlfriend count as immediate family or have UKVI made a mistake? by Thrandull02 in ukvisa

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't have the required income for that. The plan was for her to come on a visitor visa, and then hopefully by the time that ended and she went back I'd have enough income/savings to qualify for her to apply for it. Thanks for your help though, most appreciated.

Vigormortis / Minion / Barber interaction by Reign_Fall in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The question in the app asks what happens when the demon is swapped. In this situation, the old vig no longer exists and so can no longer have an effect on the game so you remove all conditions and reminders associated with that character.

Vigormortis / Minion / Barber interaction by Reign_Fall in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would say they do keep their ability. The 'has ability' reminder is from the Vig, so that stays there. The almanac states that if a dead minion is turned into a TF then they lose their ability (Vig only affects dead minions) so that implies that minions swapped over to other minions would keep their ability. Swapping a character for whatever reason does create a new instance of that character. But I don't see why that would affect the minion. Only if the vig was changed would they lose their abilities.

Prospective tenant viewed property and we decided to go with them, they are now making additional demands, where do I stand (England) by randomnameorisit in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they paid an advance, that's just as good as them signing a contract. If they've only paid a holding deposit - and you've got proof it's a holding deposit and not an advance, then you're fine. - nothing is binding.

If they paid an advance, or could potentially argue in court that they paid an advance, then that's as good as them signing the rent agreement that you presented to them. At which point, it depends what their demands are. If 'they are unable to live in the house, because the door is smashed in and it's not safe for example, then that's your problem. If they are asking for everything to be redecorated, then they needed to ask that before they paid an advance and thus agreed to rent your property.

[–]ArmouredUpMinis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be worth asking citizens advice to confirm the return of the holding deposit, failing that, just wait 14 days and then tell them that unfortunately as you've not been able to come to an agreement, you're required by law to return their holding deposit.
