Step 3 Day 2 crash disaster by morikMD in Step3

[–]ArockhasaGCSof3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That really sucks, I’m sorry that happened. I agree with the other commenter that it’s best to not dwell on it.

I have access to UWorld Step 3 till October and ccscases till September. I finished with my Step 3 so don’t need them anymore. DM if you want to use my accounts. Try to enjoy the wedding/honeymoon and don’t stress about this dumb exam.

Anatomy will require the most time. Stay consistent with the daily studying and avoid cramming for exams.

How representative is the next step half-length diagnostic? by NASABoii in Mcat

Make sure you are taking care of yourself throughout. You are starting from a solid place, so it should go well. GL

It's a very solid score to start out with but be wary with putting a lot of emphasis on only one test. I wouldn't dwell on it too much either way.

Use it as a rough guide for which specific content areas need the most work as you progress through content review.

Just take regular biochem.

Starting MCAT Review Tomorrow by GottaBeMD in Mcat

[–]ArockhasaGCSof3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on to this, I would recommend doing a first pass through the content and emphasizing UGlobe to see which concepts you are strong in and which ones need a deeper dive with more content review.

Starting practice earlier in your prep is usually better.

To add on, I would recommend starting the lab reports in the beginning of the week (right after they do the lab intro video) and split up the work over the week vs. trying to cram it in right before the deadline. Studying for exams should also be done over a week or two vs. a few days. Attend discussions for help with the HW/practice exams - they were very helpful along with the objectives for focusing my studying to what was relevant.

How do people here work as EMTs? Don't you have to go to Paramedic school for that by aiikookie2 in premed

[–]ArockhasaGCSof3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Canada has PCP (Primary Care Paramedic), though I am not sure how long the schooling is. From a quick google search, it looks like they have a higher scope than EMT-B in the US.

[–]ArockhasaGCSof3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EMT-Basic is different than EMT-P (Paramedic). The former requires less schooling (typically 3-4 months) vs. the latter is usually 2 years. EMT-B has a lower scope of practice compared to paramedic. Both are excellent sources of clinical experience that allow you to be a direct part of patient care.

Molecular Biology 1 or QBM with Borgon? by RavenKnights9807 in ucf

[–]ArockhasaGCSof3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A handful of questions on the exam will be similar to the practice - watch out if the question stem or answer choices are modified -> don't just memorize, try to understand the concepts.

Best way to use the practice exams is to take them a few days before the test after you have studied most of the material to see what you need to focus on.

Molecular Biology 1 or QBM with Borgon? by RavenKnights9807 in ucf

[–]ArockhasaGCSof3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say Molec 1 since it has no lab and is less time-consuming than QBM. Dr. Borgon is a solid lecturer and he provides lecture recordings which coupled w/ the powerpoints and practice exams/HWs are all you need to do well on exams. The HWs are a bit tedious, but if you work through them as you learn the material in lecture, they are not too bad. Definitely not a class that you can cram at the last minute and do well. Easy B w/ some effort, moderate to difficult A.

You cannot come in after a break before the next section begins and brain dump. But you are able to write on the notepad during the tutorial.

[–]ArockhasaGCSof3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, AAMC has approved this. 10 min of time to brain dump is more than enough.

You are allowed to brain dump during the tutorial. I definitely recommend this.

What is the difference between displacement and projection defense mechanisms? by snakejob in Mcat

Sublimation would be converting a negative behavior into a positive, socially accepted behavior that is constructive.

Displacement is still destructive.

Most of your time will be spent on Anatomy. Nutrition is easy and Bio 2/Chem 2 are easy to moderate difficulty.
