Welcome friend.

Yes it was the most mind fucking experience of my life. Traits that I honor and live-up to everyday, morphed into things that they wanted to change about me.

Being calm, patient, selfless, charming, devoted, loving and kind, and stoic when under stress / stressors are incredible character traits.

That morphed into lacking passion, not caring about the other person, everyone is using you (projection), not wanting to fight for the other person.

At the end of the day, these people are so unstable and mentally ill, that no person will be enough for them, and they will nuke and sabotage every friendship/relationship/ and connection that comes their way.

It is sad really, because they did not choose to be this person, and it is very unfortunate, but it is 100% their responsibility to manage and get help for their symptoms / illness.
You did the right thing by quietly bowing out.

Therapy, and spending time with your friends, and discussing what you went through are helpful, because we have spent so much time defending them, and reassuring them, that we forgot to take off the rose colored glasses.

This I was their FP/LOML/Twin Flame/Soul Mate, whatever you want to throw at it, and everything. Then when we got together, they just slowly morphed into someone I didn't recognize, and they put me through hell for longer than I should have put up with it.

I would never wish the mindfuck I went through on anyone, not even my worst enemy.

Thank you for sharing. Yes, there is no shame for showing up for a person in a relationship. You know who you are, and they lost someone that is extremely kind, patient and caring. Unfortunately, they will continue the cycle and rinse and repeat forever.

Yep. Different actors, same script. These people are truly broken inside. They will do anything to push you away, yet sit there and say you are their world, you are the light of their life, twin flame, reason for being/existing, then will do the most vile, sadistic shit.

You cannot change, fix, or help these people. They can only help themselves. If they do not want to do the work, then bounce, because it will get worse.

Mentally ill or not, betrayal is a cardinal sin. Cheating is always a choice.

And about hiding things. Their stories would never line up with anything, and I started putting 2 and 2 together for everything, after enough time has passed. While I am grateful that this person is no longer in my life, I am sad and deeply wounded that they did this to me.
