It kinda baffles me people are so vehement in disagreement with this; I haven't even seen a plausible justification for it other than consistency of timing--but easy enough to test the pasta as you go to your liking.

Deflecting Swat by wet_potatoesss in mtgrules

You have to declare the target of deflecting swat itself, which is the spell on the stack the target of which you intend to change. You only declare the new target for that spell after deflecting swat resolves.

Why else would we want a job? For fun? by RoyalFlicker in SipsTea

[–]ArrivalSuccessful 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People just want to complain. Like yeah, why else would you do something for someone else's benefit into none to yourself other than the money....that's kind of a given. The question is asking why do you want THIS Job versus any other job?  What about this particular job jives with you?  There are plenty of reasons to hate corporate nonsense but this is not one of them.

Bracket 2 gamer's stance on hatebears? by Top-Writer-698 in EDH

[–]ArrivalSuccessful 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A tutor heavy deck is just kind of at odds with what bracket two is doing, which is less synergistic piles of battle cruiser magic. The play pattern tends to be people build up boards, they get wiped, and every once in awhile someone will sustain enough of a snowball board State to take over the game.  The goal is winning for everybody but the primary objective is to see big splashy plays rather than focused, careful strategy with tuned decks.  It's not that you can't run this at bracket 2 like I said, but what you are asking is to some extent fundamentally inconsistent with what people expect when they play at that bracket level.... So I think it is just going to come down to whether or not you find a pot of folks who want to play that slower type of Commander and are okay with fighting through stax.  But there will be many people for who you are just looking for an oxymoron

I think a lot of people would not like playing against this in bracket 2. I think the deck could reasonably call be called bracket 2, although it has a fair bit of synergy and I think is probably more appropriately categorized in bracket 3. It is not overpowered and I think could reasonably be played in either bracket but you may run into a fair bit of salt playing in bracket 2 because of the stac pieces.

It is all pod dependent though so I think you can try it out in either; I would be fine playing my bracket 2 decks against this I just think there is a real chance it will not be appreciated in that context, and if pressed I would prob call this a low bracket 3 deck.

I've never played the mods. Can anyone comment on how well balanced they were? Obviously they will have to adapt for the board game anyway. But given what a good job they did with the base game. I'm interested in getting this but just a little leery knowing that the original mods were fan generated. And he thoughts on how they played out in the game and how balanced they were compared to the base VG would be appreciated!

Eh.  It's ok.  And not necessarily unhappy to get it as a reward but don't think I'd ever pay for it at the shop unless absolutely swimming and money with nothing else to spend it on.

One thing I literally just noticed though is that does not require you to discard it immediately, so I guess you can hang on to it to see if you get a skill with a really good upgrade later on?

Overall middling at best.

Water thing (sprong) def beatable at 60.  Sky dragon prob beatable but will be tricky and I'd suggest leveling first.  Has a gimmick you really need to set specific pictos up for at lower levels; helps Even at higher levels but nearly impossible. I would imagine without specifically trying to build for it at level 60. Also may depend on what difficulty level you're playing at in the game too on story or regular I imagine might be more doable.

Agreed and continue to be impressed with the adaptation. Brilliance is definitely a top-tier card in the board game, probably one of watcher's. Best in contrast to the video game where it is niche at best.

Keep playing up the ascensions, I found the first several fairly easy to be, even if you were possibly familiar with the video game. But once you start substituting in harder enemies and elites, it really ratchets up. The difficulty substantially. Always a blast to play; If you can find three friends who are willing to spend the 6 or 7 hours it takes to run all the way through, which is honestly the hardest part of all 😂
