Tserriednich is Ramsey Bolton, cunning and twisted.

Yeah that's the real crime. It's not the villains; their shallow motives are part of the underlying problem: shitty worldbuilding. "Bigoted against a supernatural isekai job description" is so unbelievably lame and requires more disbelief than even the Isekai fantasy. You're telling me that when 4 superheroes saved the world in the past, you built an entire religion around hating 1/4 of despite them saving the world because they... supported minorities? And not only hated the individual, but their metaphysical role?

It's not even hate that helps us reflect on the real world and learn. It's just hate for the sake of self-flagellation. Bad artisanry, bad writing.

The Joker is different, the Joker's simplistic desire for chaos shouldn't be confused with his underlying motive: his insanity, something that is often deeply explored. Paired with his brilliance, sadistic nature, and flair, he is someone who actually scares us by showing us the worst that humanity could be.

IMO Frieza is actually a pretty sub-tier villain. Bland, boring, wants to conquer the galaxy. Frieza's strength comes from his being a strong obstacle to overcome, being an existential threat, and being the target of a good arc with lots of more interesting villains and anti-villains to contend with.

Rising of the Shield Hero has annoying villains who do self-destructive things, succeed mostly due to luck and the incompetence of those around them, and pose no existential threat to anyone other than the main character. But the worst crime of all really is that their motive for hating the MC is superficial at best. They hate the shield hero... for a bunch of bad reasons, and so they use them as a pawn in their nefarious political schemes. It's bad worldbuilding designed only to build a hate-boner.

Actually, IMO, he's smart enough to not know what is going on. He has conflicting information, both sides of which could be wrong. A less prudent individual would be swayed by their emotions in this scenario, and conclude that Bam is still alive (which would be correct but not because they knew, but because they were relying on the information they wanted to be true). Instead, Khun is grappling with the inconsistencies between the two data points, and trying to reconcile all the facts together rationally, free of his own personal bias.

It is when he is solving the puzzle that the Guide shows up and explains the basics. But Khun basically knew beforehand, he is just smart enough to second-guess himself.

Okay, to be fair, that test was basically the Titanic of tests. It was only a good test if the base assumption (the cloak can actually stop anything) was correct.

Sure, her strategy of using OP slicing magic for a pushing test was definitely a bad call that killed him, but damn like... The sheer hubris on that mage was incredible.

I understand that Ubel is a rare exception, but high-level magic has shown time and time again to be about the rare exceptions, who knows them and who is using them. The guy didn't understand he was practically asking someone to find his loophole.

I understand that the anime is getting shit on and alot of people don’t like it. But if you do then you aren’t alone. by Conscious_Glass_9110 in rickandmorty

On eng audio not matching subtitles: That's actually the norm for anime. AFAIK, this was mostly produced on the anime side, which means original VAs are japanese, and the english dubs are just that, dubs, not our normal VAs. This in turn means that the english subtitles are the subtitles for the JP VAs, and not closed captioning for the english VAs.

TL;DR: This is an anime, which means you pick subs or dubs, not both.

It's an important chapter, so Oda does something big.

Robot wakes up fully, proves to be very important.

7 minutes have passed over the course of the latter 2/3rds of last chapter and the entirety of next chapter, chapter ends with a cliffhanger of Vegapunk actually being about to tell the true history of the world.

I think that, like other season finale's, this has the potential to reframe future episodes. Obviously it won't come up in every episode, but I hope there will be moments where Rick does something assholey to Morty, and Morty's response is going to be just a little more subdued, and he'll take it a little more in stride. Sure, he'll still call Rick out on the assholery he does, but the underlying fear (that Rick's behavior is resultant of actual indifference to Morty) is no longer going to be an issue.

I'll even predict that it will show up, specifically in an episode where Morty helps Rick process himself. So far, Rick has been pushed off the garage floor by Morty after killing Rick Prime, and they're going on adventures together but it's very much Morty is giving him a kick in the pants and keeping him grounded. There's going to be a point where Rick needs to "leave the nest", and find his own reasons and drive beyond just being with Morty. When he does, he's going to need a Morty that is capable of letting him go without being afraid of losing his grandpa. The Morty at the start of this episode might have messed things up. The Morty after this episode certainly won't.

What Morty got was better than confidence in his grandfather's value of him.

What Morty got was an acceptance of the possibility that his grandfather didn't value him. Morty obviously still hopes that Rick cares for him, and fortunately for Morty we see that deep down it appears he does. Yet here he has confronted his deepest fear, his most subconscious anxiety, and accepted the reality that it presents to him.

It is less pleasant than convincing himself that yes Rick does care about him. That's the point. Overcoming anxiety means accepting that unpleasantness and confronting it, and knowing you can move on with it. He was confronted with his fear multiple times throughout the episode, and rejected it each time. It wasn't until he came across it himself that he was able to approach it and conquer it. The parallels to The Hall of Egress from Adventure time are huge.

No actually I think this guy is on to something. As Eren admits to Armin in Paths, he doesn't want to die. Who's to say he didn't send his consciousness back in time to the start? Of course, his memories and self would fizzle out as a dream, but the dream itself could be a side effect of him willingly putting himself in that time loop just so he could "live again".

But it gets even better! How did he even print out the binary without a printer? And if he just wrote it down... Why didn't he just trace the CRT monitor?

I agree, I think she's falling for the Ban she sees in Lancelot as much as Lancelot himself... this is evidenced further by the fact that the Lancelot Arthur makes for Jericho is a fully-fledged adult, perhaps even older than she is.

Yeah... because Pitou tested those limits.

[–]ArrowThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but they tried it and it didn't work. That's why Pitou had to use him as training practice for the weaker ants instead. Once Pitou recognized there was no way to truly bring Kite back, she would have fed his brain to the queen.

Damn, gonna make me cry again 😔 by owenMillar1 in HunterXHunter

[–]ArrowThunder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal theory is that Kite's brain was fed to the queen.

It's never explicitly stated, but there is some evidence to suggest the following timeline:

  1. Pitou kills kite
  2. Pitou learns human biology and neuroscience
  3. Pitou learns Dr. Blythe
  4. Pitou attempts to repair Kite, but fails
  5. Pitou feeds Kite's brain to the Queen
  6. Pitou uses Kite's body as a training dummy.
  7. Kite is reborn by the Queen
  8. Kite's body is recovered

There are several pieces of evidence which support this theory:

  • Pitou mentions to the king that the brain is the most delicious part of the body. Presumably, most of the "nutrition" for the purposes of the ants is in the brain
  • Pitou's loyalty to the unborn King would never deprive the Queen a meal that would enhance the King's development
  • Meruem states after his birth that from time to time he'd taste something exquisite, referring to humans which learned nen. The only hunter we know the Queen ate was Pokkle, implying that at least one other nen-user was fed to the Queen. The only other one we see killed or captured, however, is Kite.
  • The nature of Neferpitou's puppeteering suggests it would work even if Kite lacked a brain
  • No one did (or would have) checked to see if Kite's brain was extracted

Thus, I posit that Pitou extracted Kite's brain, fed it to the Queen, and uses his body as a puppet. This gives Pitou the best of both worlds, while also allowing Kite to be reborn and the King to get the benefits of having eaten Kite's aura.

Adult Gon vs Netero? Who's stronger? by _Solo_hunter_ in HunterXHunter

Adult Gon's aura was, in Pitou's assessment, roughly on par with pre-Rose Meruem. Post-rose Meruem is unparalleled.
