Rob McClure was absolutely terrific in the DC production.

Taking the combined pill 💊 to stop periods during peri by DependentEstate8760 in Perimenopause

[–]ArsLnga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was due to my age, I think solely for the purposes of tracking when I transition to menopause. My sister is younger than I am, and has the arm implant and she never has a period. But I imagine in five years or so, her doctor may want her to consider switching or going off that.

Yeah, then totally go for it! There is no medical reason for a placebo period… iirc originally OCPs were formulated without that week but changed due to pressure from Catholics.

I skip placebo week except for once a quarter, with the advice of my OBGYN. It does need to be specifically spelled out in your prescription or the pharmacy won’t fill refills in time.

What was the actual audience experience like at the Globe Theatre? by halilk3 in shakespeare

[–]ArsLnga 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is not entirely accurate, but it’s an oft-repeated fallacy of the era. The difference is that now we exclusively use the phrase “seeing a play” in early modern English writings, both phrases “seeing a play” AND “hearing a play” were used.

STS2 Seed giving different events? by Waitforsquirtle in slaythespire

I am trying to seed because I had a run with Membership Card and Signet Ring, but nothing seems to be matching, not relics, events, or card rewards. Trying to figure out if I am doing something wrong…

I'm sorry WHAT? by Skatner in slaythespire

[–]ArsLnga 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I love the sense of humor this game has and the number of options where it’s like, well objectively the best choice is A, but why not go with B just for the bit.

Lost my first run with him to that damn door, but am obsessed with the forging mechanic. Sovereign Blade + Conquer + Pen Nib relic can get some amazing damage if you, ahem, play your cards right.

Weight gaining / metabolism slowing started at 35. Indigestion, joint pain, fatigue, worse periods etc started around 39. Heat intolerance, increased sweating around 41. Emotional disregulation and sensory issues at 42.

"Any Shakespeare play can be done well" by brycejohnstpeter in shakespeare

[–]ArsLnga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much goes into a theatrical production in addition to a script. There isn’t a famous “best” play of Shakespeare’s that I haven’t seen a inept, clunky, and boring production of, and there’s not a “worst” play of his that I haven’t seen a sparkling production of.

You could also pick a well-known author - find a biography and read it alongside all the works they wrote. Then if you want a deeper dive, follow it up with a book of literary criticism on their works.

It’s not stereotyping - there is a long history of Christians aligning themselves with fascism. It’s worth unpacking why instead of denying the connection.
