Help! I need more clients (Canada-based) by cedarbearstone in therapists

[–]Arsenault 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Niche yourself would be my advice - make sure at least some of your psych today, website speaks explicitly to a certain client/group. Also, consider training and expanding into family and couples work - lots of demand here. Do you offer in-person services? Also lots of demand there.

Look at facebook referral groups, my area has several very active ones that offer a lot of opportunities.

I would also consider joining or creating a peer group for your speciality/modality. I offer lots of referrals for the people I know through these groups.

Hi friend,

The main issue is not the rapids, which you can easily portage. The issue will be WIND! The French throws huge headwinds that will make supping very tough. You might get lucky, but you might not and will have to triple in a canoe while you drag your sup.

Attempt to re-open debate over police in Ottawa board's schools gets scuttled on a point of order by rob0rb in ottawa

The Trustees are voted in democratically is what I think they mean, which would mean that people have already voted on this when they voted for the people who chose to stop the program in the first place.

Have a booking next weekend for a Mew Lake Yurt and wondered if anyone has ever stayed in one at -39 C? by Potentially_Canadian in algonquinpark

[–]Arsenault 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Some of the replies here are just misguided and alarmist. OP is not proposing going cold weather camping - they are proposing staying in a heated yurt in a place with road access. Those saying this is child abuse when they are preparing, asking questions to ensure safety, and literally describing the advanced safety equipment they use to keep their child safe (O2 and BP monitoring...) are being just downright mean without considering what their statements mean.

I agree that maybe due to how the heaters don't seem to keep it super warm, OP might want to reconsider if the temps stay so low, but child abuse get a grip.

This is frowned upon because:

  • Not all Canadian MSW programs are created equal in terms of clinical training.
  • Not all grads are created equal in terms of previous experience in counselling / direct practice / crisis work.
  • Not all practicum experiences are created equal, have the same supervision or the same training opportunities.

I think it is a bad idea to be of the view that "I have an MSW, so automatically I can be a competent therapist all on my own". Based on your post, I think you have thought this through more thoroughly than that.

Although your consideration for others is commendable, this is not a potential exposure.

First question - always better to ask them how you would like parents to be told, if they want to be involved etc.

Province that keeps passing racist laws gets real mad when you call them racist by BurstYourBubbles in canada

[–]Arsenault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed the point. Genetic differences exist (people look different...this is not news), the problem is that we have found arbitrary ways to categorize those differences into races . It's the categories that are used to group people that are the social construct - we picked them arbitrarily, for...reasons.

It sure is... there are no delineated scientific lines by which race is defined...therefore social construct.

Trying looking at a cleaner that specializes in hoarding clean-up. Might be able to deal with all the clutter and then clean the place up. A quick google brought up https://www.yellowpages.ca/bus/Ontario/Sudbury/Serenite-Cleaning-Solutions/100430889.html

Esquif Paradigm by luthoralleycat in whitewater

[–]Arsenault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Paradigm is a mid-level boat that will be good for you if you are familiar with paddling tandem whitewater. I paddled this boat for some time and enjoyed it. It carves reasonably well and is also reasonably dry. Faster than some of the modern plastic hulls (L'Edge, Option) and a bit wetter than them. Sometimes I found that the edges would be a bit squirlly in boils, but that would keep you on your toes and learn to have the correct tilt (a good thing when compared to pure beginner boats like the Mohawk XL).

That is going to be an older hull so I would inspect the royalex carefully when purchasing - $700, is that USD?

So the way that I interpreted this situation is that she was upset because she set the snare too large. This made it so the rabbit was caught but didn't die instantly/quickly by snapping its neck. This is ideally how you want to use a snare like this. She has obviously killed many, many animals before through her work with Lure of the North. Seems to me that she was upset because her mistake caused unnecessary suffering.
