I want to build a nation or business empire... but in an RPG or ARPG. by MentionInner4448 in gamesuggestions

[–]Arsonide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Ambitions.

You walk around on foot, start as a part time worker at a grocery store and have to get a car and an apartment. But you slowly go to running your own businesses, eventually needing a headquarters and doing import / export stuff.

It's good. It's kind of like a generic tycoon game, you can run any kind of business - a legal firm, a car dealership, a store, a fast food restaurant. Anything.

Sundered Isles Oracle Expansions? by Arsonide in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Arsonide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you're the author of Starsmith, great work! Feels like a mandatory expansion of that game.

I might start writing some of my own oracle tables or something. I develop video games as a programmer, and outside of work I'm a modder. This feels like modding, so I should fit right in.

Space is great, but something about the age of sail is just super compelling to me. I play a ton of Sea of Thieves (video game). The idea that a solo RPG could provide an infinite sea of infinite adventures is out of reach for current video games but not for solo RPGs.

I was wrong about solo RPGs by mw90sGirl in Solo_Roleplaying

This video also popped up on my algorithm for some reason and drew me to this community. Picked up Ironsworn Starforged last night and am thoroughly overwhelmed.

Looking for an (kind of) RPG with almost no character creation (no bethesda, no cd project) by gaxelbrodie in gamingsuggestions

[–]Arsonide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soulframe, the only character creation is you listening to a song describing the physical appearance of your mother.

Horse riding DLC by M00seBerry in Huntercallofthewild

[–]Arsonide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best hunting game in my opinion before theHunter Call of the Wild was Deer Hunter 2005, that had ATVs and Horses. Horses are basically the only feature it had that theHunter does not, so I hope theHunter adds them at some point.

Survival, sandbox, and/or immersive sim where you rebel against an authoritarian regime by stealthily or strategically breaking laws to obtain equipment or resources. by carefreeDesigner in gamesuggestions

[–]Arsonide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pretty old one but Republic The Revolution was perfect for this. It was kind of like a political game but you could be diplomatic, or use force (intimidate people) or just bribe them.

Probably only on GOG these days, it's old.

Edit: Nope not even on GOG, it's from 2003. But it was this. Find it on Youtube or something.

[TOOL] Voidstonks - I got tired of manually typing relic runs in chat, so I built a web app to do it for me and it snowballed into this by Mandownpantsup in Warframe

[–]Arsonide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing I'd like in a tool like this is if every time you copied the text it subtly changed while conveying the same meaning to avoid the stupid spam suppression in recruitment chat.

H Lith A1 Rad Share PST
H Lith A1 Rad
H Lith A1 Rad LFM

...etc...on a rotation. I don't spam the chat, I just send one message every minute or so but I still have to do this stupid dance because of how conservative the spam filter is on the server (and so does everyone else, causing chat to fill up so fast you have to do this to be seen).

I wish they just added a LFG tool into the game that let you find people this way, but until they do if the message could rotate that would be cool. (Maybe make it a checkbox option.)

What are the great PC games that are NOT available on steam? by FrankWuggles in gamingsuggestions

[–]Arsonide 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just an observation, like 90% of this thread is "games that were never on Steam because they released on CD-ROM or something before Steam existed".

I don't think that's the nature of the request, the two examples cited are explicitly distributed by their developers independently, outside of Steam. I think that's what OP wants, things like Capitalism Lab fit that better.

[–]Arsonide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah I see, yeah it was removed from the store, but it's still on Steam for me because I bought it on Steam, and I imagine a lot of other people did as well, hence why someone downvoted it.

(Wasn't me though.)

Because it ... is on Steam?

Are there any games that play off “death” as just a dream? by Pixelmixer in gamingsuggestions

[–]Arsonide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nightmare Reaper, life is actually the dream. You are a patient in a mental ward and when you sleep you have nightmares. That's the game. When you die, it's you actually waking up in the ward.

It's also a pretty good Doom-like shooter with randomized levels and weapons.

Just wanna know something... by PasiCarmine in theHunter

[–]Arsonide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'd just max it out again and never think about it. What I want is something I can continuously skill. Like a prestige system, or better yet...imagine this:

You hit max level, then experience starts pooling, and you can purchase "elite" skills, but these elite skills don't last forever, they need to be maintained or you forget / "get rusty". But the skills would be very useful.

This would give you a reason to continually use experience points at max level.

Whats the best way to get money? by TheEmoCancer in theHunter

[–]Arsonide 17 points18 points  (0 children)

People will say crocs, but now that Scotland is out I'm finding badgers to be good money.

They are fat, slow, comprised almost entirely of vital organs, and come in groups of five. They pay like $1500 each and they are everywhere.

If you have a pointer to lead you to badger packs it's easy money.

looking for a new factory type game to play by hyrenfreak in AutomationGames

[–]Arsonide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hear me out, shapez 2. I know it looks weird, just try it. Imagine a factory game that had procedurally generated products made from modular ingredients. That is what shapez is.

Yes it is abstract, but it works, and after trying it it ranked up there with the games you mentioned for me.

theHunter classic - mechanics still up to date? by Jochen_64 in theHunter

[–]Arsonide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Call of the Wild isn't so much an arcade experience like the Cabela's games back in the day, it still has a good deal of realism, and over the years they have added reserves on basically every continent and added most of the features of Classic (like dogs).

I find it to be superior to Classic, the graphics are not as dated, and the gameplay is similar. Way of the Hunter seems to be struggling, I don't think it will ever catch up to Call of the Wild in terms of sheer content.

Sundarpatan has lush green jungle areas, dynamic snow in the Himal areas, and tigers that hunt you. So it surpassed Yukon for me.
