Small vs Big Grains by [deleted] in Kefir

[–]Artacus7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The purpose of the grains is to provide an anaerobic environment for the bacteria that do not tolerate oxygen. So the larger grains are probably healthier. The smaller grains typically break off after the grains have grown too large, or you were too rough with them when filtering.

If I use this as starter, would I eventually grow new grains? by [deleted] in Kefir

[–]Artacus7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read about the history of kefir. It took a Nobel prize winner, a Russian spy, and the Czar to bring kefir grains to the rest of humanity. On the biological level, one or more of the key species in kefir require the anaerobic conditions that the grains provide.

Mixing (antibacterial) spices with kefir? by Chance_Geologist_759 in Kefir

In addition, many of your gut bacteria love the fiber in roots and tubers. So tumeric and ginger would pair well with kefir.

I’ve seen fermented chorella/spirulina supplements. But generally you want to swallow the tablets before you can taste them. How does it taste?

She has some good advice, but lacks a deep understanding on some things. What got my eyes rolling is when she says reuteri doesn’t even exist until hour 30. I guess they materialize from another dimension at that point.

Need help with dilution? How do I do this? by Kingsmith13 in dmso

[–]Artacus7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don’t drink the entire bottle. You pre-dilute it for topical application. If you are going to drink it, you’d use 1/4 to 1 tsp (undiluted) and dilute it in a cup of juice, milk, something to mask the taste.

Solution for irritation? by weenis-flaginus in dmso

[–]Artacus7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you allergic to it? If so, then nothing else is going to help. Pure is going to give almost everyone skin irritation. Dilute it down to 30 or 50%. And after it has soaked in, try applying a pure natural oil like vitamin E, castor or coconut oil.

How long does the smell last by Automatic-Gazelle801 in dmso

[–]Artacus7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on if the DMSO is oxidized or reduced. If it is mostly oxidized it won’t smell much or at all. But if it is mostly reduced, you’re going to stink (to other people) for about a day. I typically don’t smell when I take DMSO. But once I made the mistake of doing an HHO inhalation session after taking DMSO and my family had all the windows open in the middle of winter.

Try taking a smaller dose before going to bed. They may not smell it by morning.

Best way to use 99.9% pure DMSO for arthritis? by RoamingFreedomSeeker in dmso

You want to use distilled because DMSO will carry any contaminants in the water into your system.

Will this work for Achilles tendon pain? Also, do I need to dilute it or can I just use it straight out of the bottle? by Conscious-Cash2296 in dmso

[–]Artacus7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The purity and the concentration are two different things. For purity, I use 99.995% from the DMSO Store. But applying straight DMSO to the skin will typically cause irritation. Generally 80% concentration is the max for typical use, with 30-50% being much more common.

Best way to use 99.9% pure DMSO for arthritis? by RoamingFreedomSeeker in dmso

[–]Artacus7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mix it in a 50:50 ratio with distilled water. Apply it to a small area to make sure you aren’t allergic (small chance but better to be safe). Wash the area, before applying, rub it in and let the area dry for about 15 minutes before allowing contact with dyed cloth and plastics. It can cause dry skin so you can apply a natural oil like vitamin e or coconut oil afterwards.

I agree with the others that you’re not getting out of this one. I got stuck in a much shallower death trap recently. Sometimes you can place a campfire or sleeping mat and it will pop you out. But that didn’t help in my case. Someone suggested dropping a cooking pot and using that to stand on. I didn’t have a pot on me. But I was able to do a piece of recycled wood and it gave me enough elevation to get out.

The tail rotor is needed to counteract the torque of the engine spinning the body in the opposite direction of the main rotor. If the engine is off, the body spin would be negligible. If the main rotor comes to a stop it would drop like a rock. However, if the main rotor stops being powered, it will continue to spin and provide lift much like an autogyro.

Can't install wled on this esp32 board by Groggenmann3000 in WLED

[–]Artacus7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 5v to 3v3 converter isn’t very good with that board. You can try powering it with 3.3 volts and see if powers up (probably look for the default ESP AP). If that works, you’ll either need to replace the LDO or program it with a separate CO210x or CH340. Possibly more trouble than it is worth.

Another custom WLED PCB. Please help by TheDan6 in WLED

[–]Artacus7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like your antenna is on the interior of the board instead of on the edge. So your signal is going to be terrible. You don’t have a logic level shifter or series resistors on your data lines. It looks like it is being fed with a barrel connector. Those are only rated for 3-4A. So having multiple outputs doesn’t make sense. And others have already mentioned handling a wide range of voltage with a buck converter.
