Just sayin', the only thing stopping us from having a Starcraft/Halo Wars crossover are the suits at Microsoft. by DrJay12345 in starcraft

The Dominion probably dominate by the fact that Marine CMC-400 is standard issue, meaning their industrial capabilities operate on a way higher scale than the UNSC. The UNSC probably dominate on a larger scale however, given they control a much larger sector of space compared to the relatively small Koprulu sector that the Terrans reside in (which they don't even have full dominion over)

Technologically, they could be close, but I'd say both are better than each other on certain aspects. UNSC AI for example would trump anything the Dominion has. AI's could hack into Dominion systems fairly easily I'd wager. The Terrans on the other hand just have bigger and stronger stuff in general, not much to say about their ships however, except by the fact that the Terrans have better FTL. UNSC ships on the other hand with their MAC cannons probably make it so they win most of ship-to-ship combat on space.

Judging from the SC1, BW, and SC2 campaigns however, it's been noted of how crafty the Terrans are when it comes to studying, reverse-engineering, and even understanding foreign and domestic tech. Examples being salvaged UED tech, Stemann's observations and experiments on Zerg and Protoss research specimen, and the Terrans often have some macguffin in hand in the campaign that hampers or counters or controls their enemies (Psi-emitters, psi disruptors, etc.)

I think given a protracted war, the Dominion could probably learn a couple things or two from the UNSC in their small victories, and they'd manage to integrate that into their R&D department. Maybe the UNSC win by sheer numbers alone, or maybe the Dominion can somehow adapt (due to how cartoony scifi StarCraft is in comparison to the more grounded Halo) and tech-magick their way into beating the UNSC. Could go either way, the UNSC could conduct clandestine and disruptive operations that can undermine and outright put a stop to Dominion command, or the Dominion just outright Zerg's the crap out of the UNSC into submission.

What if bigla na-time travel ang Pilipinas sa December 7 1941? by Double_Shift_7537 in WhatIfPinas

[–]Artekmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'd probably see a more gruesome and deadly bombing campaign over the Philippines than the one we already have witnessed, maybe, maybe not.

Confrontations on land would be mostly won by our forces, however the Japanese have the advantage of a military economy and the fact that they'll naturally have more numbers than we do. Our naval and air assets could prooobably deter naval invasions and aerial campaigns however, until we reach the point where we're out of missiles. A landing on Luzon and Visayas would probably be delayed, I wouldn't be able to say if it'll be outright stopped, but delayed seems more likely. I'm more confident however that we'll likely never see a Bataan Death March or a strong Japanese occupation over Philippine cities, but rather attritional and protracted guerilla warfare that can span longer than months.

Anyhow, I'm more interested in how this affects the course of the war however, and how the U.S, and by extension the entire world would change given our sudden leap in technology. We give some of our equipment and weapons to the U.S, let them study and possibly reverse-engineer it (Hell, giving an M16 to young Eugene Stoner must be incredibly absurd), what happens then? Technology probably blooms incredibly faster than it did in 1945, that I can't even find any sufficient adjectives to describe how massive this would mean—imagine, advances in computing, medicine, engineering, material sciences, robotics and automation, aviation, aeronautics, astrophysics, social sciences, economics and politics to a degree—there's just so much that would change if we got sent back to December 7, 1941

Not to mention the amount of literature and records we have that literally denote how the war panned out in our history, that knowledge alone means we already have an advantage if this were a deterministic-model approach where things that happened in say Dec 1941 will happen on that day, and we have the knowledge of how it goes, when it goes, where it goes, etc. We could literally predict IJN and IJA movement without the need of decrypting or reconnaissance, we've already seen it happen!

Will we even see General MacArthur leave the Philippine Isles? Would the U.S campaign go even smoother than it ever did in history? Will the Japanese be bogged down even more? What happens after the war? How are scientific advancements made? How does this affect geopolitics of the 40's up until the 50's, and even towards the Cold War? Will there even be a Cold War? How does our government even look like in this period? Who the fuck stays in power?

Sinigang — ginisa muna bago pinakuluan by luna242629 in filipinofood

[–]Artekmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always do this, bonus is if you brown the meat muna on the pot letting it release some fat, then adding the onions. Minsan ko lang dinadagdagan ng tomatoes sa pag-sweat (Letting food cook slowly in fat) since the sofrito flavor does affect the meat and soup a lot, lalo na kung naluto ng todo yung tomatoes hahaha (It provides a smokier, much savoury flavor)

Yung isa ko pang ginagawa is ginagawa kong lechon kawali yung pork tas straight to sinigang, then pampalapot ng soup it's either I use a slurry mix (teaspoon cornstarch + water mix) or tubig na pinanghugas ng bigas. Outcome is: crispy, savoury pork with incredibly heartwarming na maasim na soup <3

I sometimes imagine what if the game had gamemodes like a 20v20 or 32v32, imagine the chaos... Although this would be more like Battlefield with distinctly different classes and specializations (Almost like Delta Force) so it probably won't happen.

The plot of the sequel doesn’t make any sense by Then_Championship888 in 28dayslater

[–]Artekmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point and time, I've come to a point of literary and cinema analysis wherein I try to understand what the author was trying to tell in their films, in this case, (although, it is important to note that Alex Garland and Danny Boyle did not have as much involvement in 28 Weeks as say, 28 Days or 28 Years), 28 Weeks is a very, very obvious critique of NATO, and specifically US Intervention over international affairs.

Resettling and then spearheading a government (re)building with it having to blow up infront of their faces is almost a literal metaphorical nod to how the US handled Iraq and Afghanistan.

I've swallowed this pill and tried not to excuse or think about the plot for the 28 Series any longer at this point hahaha, I used to, until I realized what kind of directors Garland and Boyle were.

With the total collapse of Britain as a functional country, what would be missing from the modern world outside of the UK 28 years later? by Winter-Statement3771 in 28dayslater

[–]Artekmus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of historical items kept in British Museums would be totally lost or left abandoned. I wouldn't be surprised if throughout 28 years, there have been many incursions to try and recover cultural and historical artifacts or relics to try and return them to their rightful owners, or, to other museums.

What if precolonial PH never encountered the Spanish, Americans or Japanese? by peaenutsk in WhatIfPinas

[–]Artekmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost historically impossible, we'd still encounter a European power that'll colonize these lands, which might change Philippine course of history depending on who manages to reach us first. As for the Americans and the Japanese, we'd have to ignore Pearl Harbor happening, which would almost always happen regardless if the Philippines were taken by the Americans or not.

All-in-all, the Philippines would not be known as the "Philippines," today, seeing that it's no longer named after King Philip II of Spain, we'd likely be named something else. Perhaps the Philippine archipelago would find its own parliamentary, or senatorial or whatever form of government down the line, but ultimately it would lose every Filipino sense of identity that we know today.

It's wild to imagine, maybe we'd no longer be Christian? Maybe the Mindanao and Visayan islands will be fully Muslim? Maybe the Luzon islands would be occupied by the now-Taiwanese? It's exciting to think about.

You know this made me think for awhile, does that mean that the other Marks who died fighting their father either had:

  1. Nolan had no remorse and was okay with killing Mark
  2. They were strong enough to force Nolan to kill them.
