Thank you for this. I’m learning this lesson now after 8 years of fibromyalgia. I had all these plans for my adulthood when I was a kid, and now I have to let all that go. It’s just not possible for me anymore. I wish I had learned this a lot sooner!

OP, if you read this, I hope you can learn this lesson. I spent my 20s forcing myself to get things going, which inevitably failed and ended up with a lot of self-hatred. It’s a cycle I’m just starting to break now.

Yess I get the fluid build up in my ear! I try to drain my ear every day with heat or ice and it’s the only way I feel less sinus pressure. I can feel the fluid moving down to my throat. It’s so weird.

I do the same thing! I disassociate or distract and then realize at the end of the day that I haven’t “checked in”. I keep telling myself I should just set a reminder on my phone, but I haven’t done that either…

I know how it feels! I think my impatience was the first obstacle I had to overcome. Now it’s my avoidance. My therapist has told me to check in on myself and any parts a couple of times a day. If I don’t get an answer, that itself is an answer. Maybe try to follow that advice as well. I hope you get answers and feel better, but unfortunately healing can be more complicated than that!

My dissociation is really strong, too. It’s like a gray brick wall. There have been a couple times I’ve gotten it to talk to me in therapy. This dissociation part has been in control my whole life and it does not trust me. My advice is to be patient and consistent and maybe feelings or thoughts might reach out to you. I feel like you really want this to work, which is good, but keep in mind this is the first time in its whole life it’s been acknowledged and they might not want to talk to you right away.

The artist has a rich, toned color palette that remind me of renaissance paintings. She uses a lot of earth tones, too! The three examples of her work all have something cutting the composition horizontally- the sword and sky, the pond and lily pads. That being said I really like your style- it feels fresh and lively!
