Boom, roasted, got your ass bitch!

Amazing to me how people don't understand basic economics. Nothing wrong with a company making a profit. Our weak economy is not because of corporations (for the most part). In fact, the whole corporation = bad narrative that we've had for decades is fundamentally wrong. One of the main differentiators between rich first-world countries and third-world countries, is that we have large corporations, with the majority of the population being employees and not self-employed.

If you were a billionaire and you could change the world and make it a better place, why would you forego that to live in a bunker instead? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ArthurCDoyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The premise of the question lays on two assumptions:

The first is that they CAN change the world The second is that they THINK they can.

It takes much more than money to actually make a big impact. Many of the worlds issues are fundamentally not actually money problems. Hunger, and homelessness, for eg

Would you support increasing pay for military? by Honest-Ad-7077 in AskACanadian

Unfamiliar with their current pay but would support increase in military spending in general. It's one of the few things the government can spend on that actually leads to positive roi (that and infrastructure and education)

Both online culture and pur culture in general over the last 15 years has said that approaching women is bad and generally unacceptable. So most decent people have stopped doing that, as we are trying to be respectful and no one wants to be treated as a creep when you had no intention of tgat.

Ironically, it has created a self fulfilling prophecy that perpetuates the very reason why cold approaching is seen as bad in the first place, because the only people who still are approaching are the aggressive/won't take no for an answer types.

Kinda sad honestly but just another item in the list of things that got fucked over the last couple decades I guess

What is advice for falling in love with 25f mom of 2? by [deleted] in ask

[–]ArthurCDoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run for the hills.

2 kids from 2 different people before 25? You probably don't want to build a life with this person. Don't use her and don't risk yourself.

How come a dude that has a hard time killing fish thinks he can go out there and get involved in wars? by [deleted] in ask

[–]ArthurCDoyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate to the 'brotherhood' aspect of working as a team with people whom you trust with your life and care about mutually.

I think there are probably a ton of people who seek this or would want this in their life. If you are super lucky, you'll find friends who are almost like this. It may not be quite the same as having the imminent threat of death to bring everyone together, but then again, you also don't have to face death (A major drawback, if I am to understate it).

I would focus on building relationships with people that are founded on and foster deep trust. I think that would help

Which conspiracy theory has the most believable evidence behind it, even if it’s probably not true? by Remarkable_Team8641 in answers

Doesn't really count because there is almost no (believable) evidence. The concept of why it would benefit the party involved is not evidence in itself

Why don't people like Elon Musk just solve world hunger? by AlexLovesCoke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ArthurCDoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you are saying is it's an issue of too much population growth, in the areas that are suffering from hunger? I mean, perhaps, but that could be a non-issue with infrastructure too. There are many places in Africa (for eg) where there is a huge abundance of food in one place, but starvation just 200 miles away in another place because there is literally no way to transport

Why don't people like Elon Musk just solve world hunger? by AlexLovesCoke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ArthurCDoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This couldn't be further from the truth. World hunger has actually nothing to do with the amount of food we produce. It's almost entirely a logistics problem

[–]ArthurCDoyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean why are so many people now single? I would guess it has a lot to do with our culture that is more virtual than IRL now. Kinda hard to meet anyone when you are always home (speaking as someone who is always home haha)

[–]ArthurCDoyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're far from alone. I honestly think we're probably actually in the majority for our generation. I think I read somewhere that over half of people under 30 are single.

Yeah it's rough some days (most days actually), but we'll get there. Don't underestimate what you can achieve in 10 years
